AaronTechnic, 19 Feb 2024This isn't entirely true, the reviewer of the product ... moreI watch him frequently (great guy, going to be married soon) but he never really seems to get stuff sent by Apple. Not sure why, he did meet up with Tim Cook one day if I remember correctly. Samsung, BBK and others really love him though.

Mills, 20 Jan 2024I mean, they are simps yea but if they want more free stuff... moreThis isn't entirely true, the reviewer of the product doesn't have to like or simp for the product to keep recieving review units. Check Mrwhosetheboss, he made a video on reviewers.

Bionic Chip, 23 Jan 2024And then, the 2nd gen vision pro will support spotify and n... moreWon't you just get a visionOS update and get those app support?

Bionic Chip, 23 Jan 2024And then, the 2nd gen vision pro will support spotify and n... moreNah man, they would rather sell it as an add-on subscription service (on top of the subscription service that you're already paying for!) for $10 a week or $1k for a lifetime, so that they can offset the (hopefully) enormous deficit that this XR bs will cost them... eventually.

Bionic Chip, 23 Jan 2024And then, the 2nd gen vision pro will support spotify and n... moreThat was genius!

And then, the 2nd gen vision pro will support spotify and netflix so you’ll have to buy that as well.

Mills, 20 Jan 2024I mean, they are simps yea but if they want more free stuff... moreTrue, but she is genuinely an apple fanatic whether a content creator or not.

NeonHD, 20 Jan 2024oh right, iJustine, the even bigger apple simp. Forgot all ... moreI mean, they are simps yea but if they want more free stuff, they HAVE to simp. That's how those types of deals work. A corporation sends someone (literally any reviewer) a device to test out and raise publicity and sales. The person pretty much HAS to like the product and say good stuff about it to get more stuff.

So at what point can we stop pretending that mixed reality is gonna succeed? These kinds of devices are too expensive and completely destroy the barrier between real life and the digital world that we need to maintain now more than ever.

Google did the same thing to Windows Phone. Glad Huawei is marching to their own drumbeat. 😎

Apple and blind fan boys have been spreading the myth that the App Store, the software development kits, the APIs and the rest justify the 30% tax, simply negating the fact that without Apps a platform is nothing worth and therefore all those "services" are a minimum a hardware provider should provide. The first iPhone wouldn't have been successful without all those Google Apps.
I hope more companies announce that they are not going to develop anything for this expensive toy, this way demonstrating that the platform is only worth because of all those 3rd party apps and not because of the App Store.

RustyDroid AppleRot, 19 Jan 2024Shipping dates slipped into March not long after preorders ... moreSuuure, it's only because of massive, Gargantuan, COLOSSAL amount of pre-orders and not because of poor planning, bad logistics, hardware/software defects caught in the 11th hour, etc. that release dates were pushed back.

I'm gonna be the pessimist and say that Cupertino is feeling rather anxious about their potentially new dud like the Vision Pro. Sending out Devkits of a prototype model that's forced to be called anything but a prototype in order to sell it to gullible cultists is not a big accomplishment :)

FatShady, 19 Jan 2024they will only give an early sample to their puppet marques... moreApple sent models to iJustine, Marques Brownlee, I think ZolloTech got one too.

Demand for the Vision Pro is already surging (Mid March shiping dates). It will be a miracle if someone got it early. I guess everyone was wrong about this product.

Instead of commenting on these threads, maybe you should be writing these articles. You know, with all your inside knowledge on Apple sales.

Ss, 19 Jan 2024Instead of charging 30% apple tax, Cupertino should pay the... moreApple reminds me of those DC villains; even when they're defeated, they still act like they're still a genius and can rain fury on the planet. Apple lost billions from some stock market thing but they can remake that in less than 1 month really.

I don't think the average consumer will use what it's made FOR and will use it as a prop/ party trick. It's basically a toy yea. Quest Pro is 1000 dollars now, 3.5x less than this.

I wouldn't say this isn't DOA but it might be. On the price front, 3500 USD (3 and a half bands for my hood friends) is a lot of money for a first gen product. I would wait for first day bugs and glitches from tech reviewers who got it first to ACTUALLY try it out and use it. As for entertainment... yea. This isn't good. Besides those two aspects, 2 hours of battery life is kinda hard to defend besides it being a first gen product. This uses M2, which is a mobile SoC yes, it it also uses R1; basically handles motion and vision, the works. We don't know how much power R1 actually uses, besides, battery life on M2 Macbooks is astounding, as people say. But you have like, I'd say 2000 mAH to work with here. Then there's a storage scam. Base storage is 256 but an extra 400 gets you 1TB, yay! Seriously, who is dumb enough (besides Apple fanboys) to spend that much? A 1TB M.2 drive is literally 50 dollars top on Newegg. That storage drive better clean my dishes and vacuum my house for that price.

There are more aspects I have to dive into but here's my verdict. Should you buy it? No. Is it worth the price? Yes and no. Meta Quest Pro is your best shot at recreating this on the budget. 3500 dollars is putting a lot of trust into a thing like this. I would hold off until the 2nd gen arrives or a smaller or cheaper version is unveiled.

I also can't imagine to see tech destruction channels destroying this on Feb 2nd just to get like 300,000 views.
