Nobody wants cheap streaming like youtube or netflix
Netflix is the worse while Hbo Max and Appletv+ are among the best

Well, the entertainment department is DOA. Nobody has/wants Apple TV+ really. If Netflix doesn't hop aboard then it's downhill from there.
I feel like this is Google rebelling against Apple for that whole RCS debacle. YouTube is a must for a product like this anyway. The caption said "are not currently developing a visionOS app". So it'll come eventually, just not NOW. Which is a big problem on the streaming and video front. You'll just essentially have Apple TV+ and the Photos app. It's like buying a car online and having to wait for it to be delivered. Apple better pray they start working on it. It would be ironic and hilarious if Apple literally sent a message to Netflix to make an app for their new OS.

This is a mistake on the part of Netflix and Spotify. Sure the Vision Pro is still in its infancy and they aren't missing much but Apple already has competitors in these areas. They are allowing Apple free-reign and when the platform gradually becomes main stream and the cheaper "non Pro" devices materialize, these guys will be far behind Apple Music and Apple TV+. They're being emotional because right now they know that their presence on the platform will benefit Apple mainly, but they need to think more long-term because realistically only Apple is gonna have a shot at make this VR thing truly mainstream. When it does get mainstream, how much work are they gonna have trying to catch up to Apple's in house services?

They're just bitter.
But this is bad for Apple, at least for regular consumers. Without Netflix, Youtube, Apple's entertainment angle for the Vision Pro is not flying. The only saving grace is that you can just use a Mac and display the output to the Vision Pro.

As much as I dislike the way Apple handle repair and prices, I feel like they are one of a few players in the market who will make VR relevant.

I have a feeling Google (and others) might be pulling off the trick, where the platform didn't have a chance to pick up interest because it was missing essential apps, because companies like Google just didn't want to allow competition with their own/partners' products.

My Oculus quest 3 has both apps. Why would I pay $3,000 more to be locked up with no apps and not being able to side load?

YouTube and Spotify would lose if they made such a thing.
Not only they have to make an app from scratch and even more humiliating is that they will be charged 30% apple tax too.
It's better not to make it and then make one for Android AR/VR alone since, that will move AR/VR lovers away from apple AR.

Why bother redeveloping apps for visionOS when you can easily use the desktop version on a MacBook while connected to an Xreal or Rokid AR glasses? Heck, it's also possible to do the same for Xreal with an iPad.

justasmile, 19 Jan 2024Nice. Bring it on! Give a bigger reason for why people shou... moreI would want one if it wasn't made by Facebook.
Not that I want the one Apple makes (different device, not what I was looking for), but after testing Meta Quest Pro, I rather not sell my soul to the worst big tech company out there.
Kinda sad because Quest Pro is a fine device, owned by a scum company.

Instead of charging 30% apple tax, Cupertino should pay them for developing app instead. But of course with the garden wall and monopoly strategy, apple can charge them whatever they want if this toy actually sold.
