25 January 2024

You can't just sideload on a non JB iPhone. Which become useless faster than the "manufacturer-abandoned" Android that came out at the same time.

Surpising that it's the EU that is committed to stripping down the walls around Apple's walled garden and not the US. Guess the US doesn't care about consumer rights or fair competition.

          Still with a greedy caveat

Well, it's basically like "what you asked, is what you get" 🙄
The only part that I agree is the use of NFC, the rest like App Store or web browser engine. I personally don't care 🤷🏻‍♂️ and doesn't have impact on me. NFC should be open to all not just EU.

Apple fanboys are against this new norm because they want to be trapped in their little boxes all the time. But the world has always been more open and we have always had the right to be more free and to choose as consumers want.

Apple was never against this, they were never for the consumer, they just wanted to dictate and own them and get all the fees as a monopoly.

Europe has had it and it's time for the winds of change to blow elsewhere.

Maybe they can give 10-20 % out of that 30% as discount to customers.

alternative app stores sounds promising. Apple's own is so full of garbage and it's difficult to find useful apps. or maybe there just arent that many useful apps on iOS compared to Android, lol

I don't understand what benefit will this move bring to consumers ? Just that they installe their favorite apps from a different store ?

Other than that idk why this move is better. I'm not an iOS user so pls someone explain

I like to believe this won't make much of a difference
A vast majority of iPhone users are non tech savvy and would most probably not make the full use of this "freedom"
                                      Except for that payment part.
