I was hyped to see where this was going, but playing Resident Evil on the iPhone is very disappointing, I tested briefly on the ultra. I think that is very cool what Apple is doing but right now I prefer cloud gaming.

Resident Evil run at 300p upscaled on iPhone 15 Pro Max, that too around 15fps.
It's morally illegal to market this as playable.
I don't expect better performance from this walking simulator.

what is Daryl from Walking dead doing here?

Dirty money is behind this game. Yeah it got a good gameplay but mad to support immoral policies of some governments. And that's why they brought it to mobile platforms.

rizki1, 30 Jan 2024That's expensive for a mobile game... on Android there... moreMaybe because almost everyone on android can easily pirate the games for free? It’s harder to do on ios so singleplayer games that cost $20-30 etc instead of being freemiums are more viable for developers there

$40 is expensive for a port imo and it seems like they’re trying their best to squeeze every cent from a one time purchase

finally I can play amazon delivery simulator on my iphone

Beautiful game but it's basically a movie that has small gameplay elements built in. Basically Netflix meets telltale games.

HyperionBurn, 30 Jan 2024oh, well yeah its expensive and we know apple is greedy🤷‍♂️$20 for this game is pretty reasonable, not apple being greedy. Steam, GOG, Epic, they all have platform charges, though the rate varies.
I really hope more and more PC/Console games move their way to IOS/Android, since mobile platform has been such a letdown for past 10-15 years.

Don't say th... moreI didn't say mobile processors aren't powerful enough, they are just literally a different architecture so things just naturally aren't compatible. x86 vs ARM, emulation requires excessive hardware vs natively running. Apple switched everything to ARM so they are going to be leading the way in mobile gaming for a while.

And Samsung is not? Are you asking $1,400 for 12 GB of ram and 256? hahaha we literally use the same phone number

so apple is doing something similar
i mean 20usd isnt too expensive

keklivesmatter, 30 Jan 2024It is because of CPU architecture. No way, I don't really believe that. Don't say that current phone SoCs are weak, many old PC games such as Far Cry 2 are playable with emulators.

rizki1, 30 Jan 2024That's expensive for a mobile game... on Android there... morePretty much yes.
Porting games cost money and if people are not willing to pay for them, there's no incentive in porting them in the first place.

The fact that some of these newly released AAA games are "universal apps" and can be played on iPhone, iPad and Mac increases the chance of being bought for more people.

We will see next year if it worked or not.

That's expensive for a mobile game... on Android there are almost no games priced above $10. Is the reason why PC and console games don't come out for mobile because they are expensive?

Let's see Google stops being stingy and has something like this with Android! to take advantage of the hardware of the devices for more than social networks and taking photos of the cat and the food
