Price is good. Samsung cost same for example ... moreBecause that was released in 2023. This is considered a 2024 device for people in Europe, and it's overpriced to them seeing how this has android 13 on it.
Stop being an Honor fanboy.

€1999 is expensive but with the introductory offer it drops to €1399 with the gift of a €399 Bluetooth speaker which is much better. And I also got -300€ for signing up for the pre-order.
So in the end €1099 for the V2 + the bluetooth speaker and a 6 month omnium it became quite a deal.
I also think that its “normal” price of €1999 will quickly decrease.

A quick check on my country's online classifieds through Carousell Malaysia shows the Z Fold 5 selling on the secondhand market for as low as MYR 4,200, roughly around $890, and still under warranty by Samsung.

AlienKiss, 04 Feb 2024I'm still not interested in foldable phones yet. Don... moreI used to be on the foldable phone bandwagon. I sold it for my current LG V50 with its detachable Dual Screen case, and I can easily vouch that I never miss going back to foldable phones. For all the hype about the latter, I found the dual display solution far more practical and flexible than foldable screens. What I always love about the dual display is that you never have to worry about apps not supporting screen splitting natively. I can easily use any apps I want side by side, knowing that each app can work independently on each respective screen. Netflix, NHK World-Japan, and e-commerce apps are several examples that cannot do screen splitting natively. Instagram used to be the same until recently.

PepperPot, 04 Feb 2024"Basically in any important aspect for a foldable it s... moreWhy do I need to show you information to prove anything? You've only stated things without backing it anyways. Every manufacturer claims high or highest durability in order to sell and customer service is highly dependent on region.
You also seem to misunderstand what I meant. I wasn't talking about consumer's preference but design and build when I referred to what are the important factors for a foldable. Samsung have been making foldables the longest and most people buying it are likely switching from another Samsung phone so they haven't chosen it because of it's durability, rather because they haven't looked for different options outside that ecosystem.
Similarly to iPhone users, flagship Samsung buyers probably just buy the newest and flashiest Samsung flagman every year or two. So having a foldable the longest and a trained customer base which will buy anything you put out goes a long way to make it the best selling foldable without it necessarily needing to be the best designed or built.
That said, there have been reports about Samsung sales seriously tanking recently so there is that. Do with all what I said whatever you wish and make your own conclusions... Or don't. It's all good either way.

I have enough income to buy 10 x Magic V2, but I won't.
Why?
Because the price of phones has gone up way too much and the price of EVERYTHING has gone up.
The only way you can influence this is by NOT buying.
I'm happy with my 2018 top end phone that I paid $500 for. My next phone will be a 2022 top-end phone on -75% sale.
Phones have enough of speed, screen and features (sans all the features they removed c. 2016-2019). Why pay for extra 16GB of RAM I don't use, useless 100W chargers (when I slow-charge during night for maximum battery life) and 5 different camera sensors out of which only 1 is really good.
Let's face it: phone design, innovation and competition are dead. It's all the same, just with "more" (more pixels, more brightness, more size, more cameras, more, more more).
All this, why phones are more and more treated by Chinese manufacturers are throwaways: bad repair network, lousy updates, no major updates for many years and when they do come, the quality sucks.
Who wants to buy a 2000€ year every year and throw it away the next year? An insane person, or a person who doesn't understand the value of money.
Until that changes or prices normalize (unlikely), many of us are just happy enough with our 2-6 year old phones that do everything we need.

justasmile, 05 Feb 2024But what about the fact that it comes with Android 13 in 20... moreFriend and who cares.
Between 13 and 14 android there is litterary no significant difference.
Phones expensive as this 90% people buys on contract from their network carriers.
Noone have 1500-2000 in pockets. Maybe only in some very rich countries like Norway, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland etc. But thats it.
Average person cant afford to shed 2000 from his pockets or bank account.
And foldable phones looses its value quickly. Faster than bar phones.
In other words people buys on contract for 2-3 years for that time ti will be enough and device will get its updates. Then they will try to sell it and buy new device.
When it will be paid.
Once again android 13 or 14 it does not matter. Difference is bare mnimum. Nothing noticeable.

justasmile, 05 Feb 2024But what about the fact that it comes with Android 13 in 20... moreLike it really matters you get your 3-4 OS updates anyway.
Also you wont keep your device that long.
Most people buys on contract fromnetwork carrier is much cheaper.
When the device is paid and still have decent value they will try to sell it and get a new one.
Nobody cares about the rest. People who carry Z fold 4 also dont sell it for Z fold 5 but wait for Z fold 6 so they can sell Z fold 4 when is paid to get new one.
Nobody keep their phones for 10+ years because it will bear no capable hardware for running latest apps and games.
2-3 years of OS updates is more than enough and between android 13 or 14 there is no noticeable difference to whine for android 14.

The most important concern people have about foldables is not the camera, aspect ratio, charging speed or the crease. It's the durability. Samsung is the most durable foldable and they have the most streamlined repair service. Unless you have information to show otherwise, they are leading where it matters with consumers.
I'm also not sure who is staying clear of Samsung. They have the most foldable sales in the world and they have the 2nd largest foldable market share in China. That's with hardware that "sucks" as you put it.

Anonymous, 04 Feb 2024The problem I see here is Honor launching the phone too lat... moreNot everyone will care it is not with the latest SoC or Android version out the box. Also some people prefer to stay away as far as possible from Samsung. Particularly with foldables the Z Fold is by far the worse designed of them all in terms of aspect ratios, ergonomics, thickness, display crease. Basically in any important aspect for a foldable it sucks and on top of that it's a Samsung. Meanwhile the Magic V2 is pretty much nailing all of those.
Also where I live the Magic V2 is available with contract renewal and it comes at about 1450 USD if I were to get it. The Z fold 5 512gb and even the iPhone 15 pro max 512gb for example are approx 120 - 130 USD more expensive with the same deal. So in relative terms it can be not that expensive to get. Still outrageous for a phone but not entirely outrageous for arguably one of the best foldable designs at current moment.
