Weekly poll results: the Honor Magic V2 is too pricey

04 February 2024
This is a 2023 model launching in 2024, but that didn't hurt it as much as the hefty price tag.

Darth Caesium, 04 Feb 2024I'm sorry but that doesn't make sense, even if we... moresorry, I didn't explain it well.

I assumed the Honor foldable is the best foldable in the market (this is a subjective option of mine). And a few people, like me, will also consider this to be the best foldable. So they'll be willing to pay extra for this phone.

But yes, OnePlus Open undercuts or at least is equal to the the Magic V2 in most cases. So objectively, it is the better option.

waiting for a whole year just to get a phone from last year is so not worth it

No, $1500 is not too pricey.

Invetor, 04 Feb 2024I think the price is right for the intended customer. No... moreI'm sorry but that doesn't make sense, even if we're only thinking in basic economic concepts. Your argument actually would mean that Honor should decrease the price, because it would get a bigger increase in buyers than the decrease in price if the problem is people not wanting Chinese phones. When there is a good value proposition, such things are usually not a big problem. Besides, there are better foldables out there that are cheaper in price, especially things like the OnePlus Open.

I'm still not interested in foldable phones yet. Don't get me wrong , but when you open it you end up with a very weird aspect ratio for videos . Also I still have doubts about the inner display - very fragile .
                            If I were to get one , I'd go for Samsung Fold . I don't trust/like other brands .

The problem I see here is Honor launching the phone too late in the market. By the time people are looking at a new 2023 foldable phone, you can get the Z Fold 5 in the secondhand market for less than RRP with some even still under warranty.

Great phone great specs and price is fine honestly.
Past years proven Chinese doing better jobs than Americans.
                                  Honor is proof of that.
By the way for a bsic use SD 8 gen 2 or SD 8 gen 3 there is no noteable difference when running apps or games.
Phone is great and rest of the specs are even better than Galaxy Fold 5 for example.
From battery, charging and cameras to everything else.
Sometimes you dont need the latest CPU and GPU to get the best of both worlds.

Just like the game of chess. Its not about what figures you have but how you can play them.
Even with weajker units you still can win match.

Sole CPU and GPU does not make flagship devices.

It seems like a great phone at first, until you see the price and the fact that it ships with Android 13.

I think the price is right for the intended customer.

Not everyone's gonna buy a Chinese phone, specially these days...

So Honor priced this top-tier foldable at a top-tier price. That's my theory.
