02 February 2024
The change in color saturation is intentional and will not be altered for now.

Anonymous, 05 Feb 2024don't worry, it will be fixed on s25 ultra, not the 1s... moreYou mean samsung is better than chinese brand?

This is already 2024, and chinese phone still as buggy as a chinese phone from 5 years ago.

Samsung just need to provide a slider. On the left is "Natural" on the right is "Vivid". Users can move slider to their desired level of saturation. No fuss, everyone happy.

yikes, 05 Feb 2024You are crying over a phone? Okay..You might be spending too much if a phone is causing this much stress. Not worth it.

I have just measured the display of my S24+ with a colorimeter. It's pretty bad. Reds and greens are way under DCI-P3 coverage. My old Xiaomi Mi 9T had 100% coverage, the Samsung has only 91%. I have published the measurements at /r/GalaxyS24/ if anybody is interested.

Such an expensive phone and the camera and colors are really bad, I feel like Samsung stole my money, I want to return the phone and they won't let me haven't stopped crying since I got it

Changes could be made in something, yet that thing still retain its name. There are instances of this! I mean, we see UIs undergoing some pretty significant changes yet still retaining their names.

And the new vivid is still vivid when COMPARED to natural, just not as vivid as before. And if the old vivid was never a thing, this new vivid would have passed as vivid without drawn out swords.

This is what you said, not that I don't have an S24, just that I don't have a Samsung, which isn't true. I also have a Note 10+, which is also not affected by this, which doesn't mean I can't have an opinion about it.

Oh, and Samsung isn't a dream phone brand, maybe for you it is, I don't have any desire of buying any of their newer models.

Guys, to be perfectly honest I'm not happy that vivid mode is almost indistinguishable, but I have to admit that picture on the screen looks really great. Probably, because of being very clear and not so cartoonish. But again, there should be a choice...

I thought the vivid mode only works in viewing media like in Gallery or Youtube App/Social Media. And Natural mode will be used on the homescreen.

If samsung doesn't bring back vivid mode, i will retorn my s24 ultra. I don't want an amoled with the same poor contrast of an ips display.

I agree with this, and partially with the rest of your comment as well, but not completely.

"the brouhaha generated by this is simply because Samsung provided that option in the first place, and because some have gotten used to the saturation offered by old "vivid"."

My opinion on this is that if they were gonna change something, they shouldn't have called it the same thing, because it's not the same.

"I mean, many phones don't have that, yet I don't see their users agitating and through fusses at their manufacturers. "

I'd rather not have the option if it's not gonna do what it says it's going to do.

My phone has a similar option, but it's called "Bright", and that's what I use, despite me taking pictures in Zeiss Natural mode, I like my own pictures that I take, to reflect reality as much as possible, but since I use anime wallpapers I like having my own phone to be as vibrant as possible.

"I actually gave an analogy which, considering that you didn't pick on, is befitting."

I'm not gonna pick on something that I know nothing about.

DarlingYext, 04 Feb 2024"You don't like Samsung and that's very appa... more“I understand that you like what they are doing, but you really don't have to be defensive about it.”

Yes, I like it that they could review and make changes to their product, if that's what you meant. Kindly tell how I was being defensive. I simply made a very objective comment, devoid of bias. I mean, I actually gave an analogy which, considering that you didn't pick on, is befitting. Or is it bad to make objective comments nowadays?

I use the old "vivid" on my Note 10+, but because i find it too saturated for my liking, I pushed the color sliders in advanced settings all the way to the left (except red that is 3 levels to the right, because I like warm screen) in a bid to tone it down, so the new "vivid" would sit well with me.

What I think Samsung should do in light of the reactions, however, is to provide 3 options: "Natural", "Balanced", and Vibrant.

On a final note: the brouhaha generated by this is simply because Samsung provided that option to begin with, and because some have gotten used to the saturation offered by old "vivid". I mean, many phones don't have that, yet I don't see their users agitating and throwing fusses at their manufacturers. Also, my comment is very civil. I didn't call you names, did I? The problem is that I'm not an ice cream seller: I say things as they are. I can't be accused of not being frank.

If i were to choose between an official statement or an opinion from someone who doesnt use/own samsung, i prefer the former one.

Also It is intentional and only affect a samsung user.

I dont think this affect to any non-samsung phone, so any non-samsung user have zero reason to complain.
