Not even all samsung phones use samsung screens.

Samsung does not even have 30% of smartphone sensor markershare. Almost all flagships use exmor.

Samsung is not only supplier of ram/storage. There are Micron, SK Hynix, Kioxia, Toshiba, SMIC and other semicon companies.

Except Apple that needs more than 200 million screens per year and only samsung can make that much, no other OEM needs anything from samsung if they do not want to.

Almost 10 years after the Royole FlexPai. Now that's innovation.

If rumours are to be believed, they have already ordered test panels from Samsung in various configurations, but like I said, this is rumours I have heard so have no factual basis for this

Anonymous, 03 Feb 2024I‘d rather they would work on a normal less than 6 inch phoneThat's the better thing to do, but the smartphone industry is run by fashionable designs and curved screens these days, and not even a bit of practicality or brian cells

They will make curved screens, folding displays, stretchable displays, the most pointless displays, but never, an ordinary phone with a usable small display for comfortable one hand use

Interesting, however I prefer to get it the 2nd or 3rd generation with much improvision, rather than the first edition.

                          I can’t see it happening; I just can’t. The tech isn’t there.

First it should be an iPhone with iPad’s features, not an iPad mini because it makes no sense to have an 6,7 inch iPhone and 8 inch iPad!!
Second if they can resolve the crease and make it with reasonable price then it can be a successful device.

I have no idea what to expect when it comes to features of an Apple foldable devices

But I'm sure unsurprisingly there will be a lot of copying and then change it and make it the Apple way features

Boe does not pay samsung for foldable oled tech.

Also, flexible oled is so much older. In 2012 , sony had demo of oled that could stretch , later this tech was sold to LG.
