Keklivesmatter is the type of person who can only write comment, but afraid of meeting the Apple hater personally.

Just like Apple, being afraid is the spirit.

DaFink, 09 Feb 2024I fully agree with you. Consumers are and have always been ... moreI am really happy that Apple is afraid of EU government and choose to apply USB-C port and to let 3rd Party App store.

Looks like Apple is afraid of becoming irrelevant in EU market, and found zero reason to leave a far bigger also more relevant EU market.

You sell in EU market, you follow the EU rules.
    Otherwise, go home.

    Scores: EU 2 - 0 Apple 🤣

The fact that Apple dont leave EU market just shows that Apple is afraid of losing money and afraid of being irrelevant outside US market.🤣

Apple is afraid and i am happy about it.

keklivesmatter, 09 Feb 2024Government forcing a company to create a product is wrong o... moreI fully agree with you. Consumers are and have always been free to choose other than Apple, developers are and have always been free to do their work on other platforms. And those other platforms are free to up their own game and out compete Apple. So this forced compulsion from the EU for Apple to alter their own policies on their own IP, and thus dilute their brand identity to me represents massive government overreach.

Don't you think it's bizzare a few EU officials have such power? I'd rather a tech company had too much power than any government because companies onky care about money but governments want money + total control.

Apple is so annoying for developers that in 2015 I gave up developing for them. I use Android instead then I just port through the engine (Unreal Engine) and reoptimize for Apple. I HATE their requirements even more having to have an Apple computer which isn't better than a buffed up cellphone with a keyboard instead of developing on my PC costing 10x less with 10x more performance to do the same tasks, even more when it's a graphic intensive development with their crappy GPUs.

Before 2015 a 2k MacBook pro was at least comparable to a 2k top notch notebook, today, Apples are MUCH MUCH weaker and even more expensive... A nightmare for developers!

And yes Apple should leave EU 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻, Meta, Amazon, X like all other American firms.
We would love this 3rd world country to leave us 😁

And while we might not have the obsessive iPhone market share over here, it's still a huge market that Apple simply can't just dismiss.

It is odd how they approached this with half a**ed 3rd party support that I'm surprised wasn't questioned by EU yet.

I wish Apple would just pull out of the EU entirely and give them the bird like they do to all other governments.

Anonymous, 09 Feb 2024Not going to have impact on me. So, mehh~~ 🤷🏻‍♂️Regardless, open standards being legally enforced as a requirement is good, because all of the other stuff that can affect you are now much more likely to be struck down.

Apple completely trolled the EU with their implementation of 3rd party apps. It’s practically no different to before, apps have to be approved by Apple. It’s not sideloading as expected and the EU needs to rewrite the rule.
