Europe laws, done by bunch of idiots. At the end we remain with monopoles (apple, meta, google) but much more bureaucracy. Useless
This happens when u put women in charge not for their skills, but purely for their gender

security will always be breached when connected to open system, the internet, the cyberspace
even ... every brand has build their own proprietary network, in the end, they must connect to open system, so their customers can communicate through different networks
this introduce vulnerability ... always ...
but, the industries must be forced for their openess to have both unified and multiple system running on their devices
the unified system like sim, 4g 5g 6g, usb, microxd, file system
the multiple open system like audio video codec, internet browser, all file access even though its proprietaries such pdf psd dwg jpg docx xlsx tiff gif and much more
using rasoning of low adoption and security to force to return to close system is totally wrong

PatrickCzech, 16 Feb 2024I had a decent Samsung phone. It was called Galaxy S23+ but... moreThats probably why you swapped, you just have an android iphone at this point and their devices (like pixels) lack in a lot of quality of life areas.
I'd have an iphone over a samsung or pixel device anyday.

I'd go xiaomi, oneplus, oppo, honor or Motorola over samsung for android (better devices, dont have constant issues that creep in every generation) and you wont get security issues like apple and samsung constantly (or any of the news and serious issues samsung is in in asia which GSM dont seem to track).

Apple should just exit the EU and be done with it. This childish tantrums and malicious compliance is getting boring now. We have things to do.

"So when iOS 17.4 lands to the general public in March, users based in the European Union won't get progressive web apps anymore but rather the option to just add basic browser bookmarks on their home screens, which will open as a new tab in their respective browser."
This is not true. As you could use another browser (probably with Blink engine), you could also use that browser for PWAs...

""Apple says that making web apps comply with the EU's DMA involves a lot of work that's not practical to undertake, given web apps' low user adoption. ""
How come there is a lot of work if there are not a lot who use it ?
Thats again the cen so ring tactics

As an iPad user, iOS 17.4 gave me hope to finally use a decent browser (fking webkit is slow, laggy, etc), but Apple already screwed us with saying iPadOS is a "different OS" (even XCode, Apple's official programming app, doesn't see the difference between the two "different" operating systems, literary enabling the app to run on iPads is as simple as clicking a toggle...). But this crap with removing PWAs is just plain annoying thing they didn't have to do, but they want to. My next tablet is going to be Samsung, thank you Apple.

Good for Apple.
Meanwhile, the EU keeps turning a blind eye on the fact that Google FORCES OEMs to pre-install Chrome to get their devices certified.

Apple needs to be severely punished and forced to allow third-party apps and third-party browser engines. This is just ridiculous.
