JayRoar, 17 Feb 2024Very expensive in europe. Probably will be priced below 900... more$900? Not even in China
Previous was almost $1000 there.

[deleted post]I was just asking a question. Anyway, if you do really find the ultrasonic scanner better, then suit yourself.

      No more curved screen? 😢

[deleted post]That quote was just a funny meme, nothing that should seriously be taken into consideration. Because what is the alternative to democracy? Dictatorship, and in dictatorships people are really way worse off on average than under democracy. Democracy is the lesser evil if you will (though I’m fine with democracy personally)

220g? For what, just because of the camera? Might as well get the S24 Ultra, complete with a stylus and Dex. At least the weight can be justified with the utility.

This is a little bit too expensive considering it's not a folding phone....

Very expensive in europe. Probably will be priced below 900usd in other countries, especially asia.
If android auto is not an issue at all, its best to import from asian countries.

"The Xiaomi 14 Ultra's 16GB/512GB model will be priced at €1,499".

So literally no one will buy it. You can get the 1TB Samsung S24 Ultra for €1,300. No one's going to spend an extra €200 for a Xiaomi with half the storage.

I seriously don't understand the "tactics" of Chinese manufacturers. Apple and Samsung dominate the flagship market in The West, and that's not going to change if Chinese manufacturers keep charging more than Apple and Samsung.

Especially when both Apple and Samsung offer much longer OS support and better after sales support. If Chinese manufacturers want to break Samsung and Apple dominance, they need to offer specs that are just as good, if not better, while charging 20% less than Samsung and Apple.

I was hoping for a 6x zoom instead of the same 5x.

Unable to choose your own launcher if you use gestures, for £1500. Great deal.

                      phone looks kinda hot💀

1500 euros, yeowzers man that's a lotta money for a 512 gig model. I thought that'd be the 1 TB model damn. Xiaomi really think their cameras can justify having to pay THAT much for software that isn't that great. Besides, this year's upgrade is so minor it's better to just get the 13 Ultra. Xiaomi should've made this 1300-1400 euros because they don't do price cuts unlike Samsung, pretty sure the S24 Ultra will be 1300-ish euros for the 512 gig model at some point and at that point the 14 Ultra would seem outrageous (if it didn't already).

At €1500 in Europe it has no chance against other flagships like S24U and 15 Pro Max. It has great specs indeed but that is not enough in the West.

                            >200 grams, still a deal breaker. At least it‘s 7 grams lighter than its predecessor

The 5x periscope is f/2.5, as the back lens suggests, not f/3.0. Neither the 3.2x.

Darth Caesium, 17 Feb 2024Democracy may not be the end all be all of everything, but ... moreAt least the smartphone market is more free in China than the US. Seems to me that the US is just using excuses to ban Chinese products.

[deleted post]Democracy may not be the end all be all of everything, but at least such places have more personal freedoms and rights than China does, even if they're slowly being eroded by overzealous politicians and the easily manipulable public.

1500 euro is a bit too much, if they want customers to choose them instead of Samsung in Europe.

And before telling me that's the bit al price - I just got Oppo Find X7 Ultra for £790

Anonymous, 17 Feb 2024Why only 3,000 nits when the Redmi K70 Pro has 4,500 nits?Maybe the 3000 nits isn't the brightness of a 5% patch of white pixels, unlike the 4500 nits of the Xiaomi Redmi K70 Pro? You're likely getting higher brightness in such a case.
