If you have used both 12s and 13 ultra side by side, you will definitely realise its way easier to get a sharper 5x photo compare to 12s due to faster shutter speed.

Night photo, it is almost way easier to get sharp photo with more details from modern phone than with dSLR without the use of a tripod/stand, and that is not accounting good quality lens that cost thousands. Main advantage of camera system would be its speed and flexibility with lenses and flash.

Sweet!
This camera kit WILL be the way forward for any phone with a circular lens setup and should be a standard!!
I was looking to see the ZTE Z50 Pro S successor have this too.

Anonymous, 22 Feb 2024Yet another example of marketing gimmick: bigger aperture, ... morePhone cameras aren't just about how well you can capture low-light landscape photos nowadays, high-end phones from many brands (Honor, Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi) now have a dedicated sports mode that uses a much faster shutter speed to freeze motions. A wider aperture lets in more light therefore allowing the camera to maintain low ISO settings. For the past few years, flagships have had 23-24mm main lenses so apart from potentially stronger LaCA/LoCA and reduced contrast (but they can be reduced using more advanced optical design or image processing, X100 Pro's 2x photo cropped from the 50MP image looks to have great contrast) they aren't even losing much in terms of image quality.

AnonD-1137263, 22 Feb 2024mi releasing phones every monthWhen was the last Ultra phone released by Xiaomi? If you want to be calculative, Samsung also release phones almost monthly throughout the year from the A15, A25, S24 series, upcoming A55/A35 to the subsequent M and F models in different regions.

The Chinese market is very competitive and all brands are similarly priced nowadays (maybe with the exception of Huawei but they have a unique situation with far higher r&d costs). For example the Oppo Find x7 ultra is 500rmb cheaper than this in China. Also the displays they are now using are cheaper than top Samsung displays so that wouldn't be a reason for higher costs. The display in this phone is cheaper than the the Xiaomi 13 pro for example which had a Samsung display according to Xiaomi's own website

The hardware is impressive as always but on the software side, there's something left to be desired.. HyperOs seems to improve the user experience but it still feels like half baked software. Marginally better than previous MIUI.

My old 20mp Nikkon D7500 still produces better pictures than all phones ever passed from Gsmarena.
Phones needs to focus on colors reproduction and image processing and generally on what's happening after the main sensor when image is captured.

Anonymous, 22 Feb 2024Phones from Asus, Samsung , HTC, Sony, OnePlus do not get 5... moreSeveral of which are not Chinese and do not have a major app store in their home market and no Google play store nor services. In other words, it isn't comparable.
If for example another Chinese manufacturer, who has the same opportunity as Xiaomi, but instead goes for a significantly higher margin in their home market, to keep the price similar to international prices, would that be better or worse for consumers?
It would not affect international buyers, as the prices would remain the same.
It would only increase the profit margin in the home market, which would likely lead to lower sales domestically - though potentially with a similar revenue. Not Xiaomi's goal. They want the solution with a lower profit margin and more sales to make their devices more available. To me, this is a good thing.
No one else is offering the same exact hardware at a significantly lower price internationally. Samsung, Apple and Google keeps selling us age old camera HW, whilst Xiaomi is spending the money co-developing new HW, and have been doing this for years. Once the cost comes down, the three others will adopt them in their devices with higher profit margins. Not just camera, but even display. Whilst the rest can keep up with brightness in and of itself. Where Xiaomi has been on 12-bit (68 billion colors) displays since last years, some are still stuck on 8-bit (16.7 million). Not even 10-bit that has many years old by now. Some also skimping on HDR formats etc. Xiaomi is not. So their prices are not wrong.

Phone A has more cameras than phone B.
Phone A has larger battery than Phone B.
You still want phone A to have all cameras larger than Phone B. Also call trolling whoever says there is space limitation inside the devices and sometimes choices need to be made.
🤦🏻♂️
By the way, do not forget Oppo had to reduce superwide from 1/1.56" to 1/2" to have room for second periscope.
And Find X7 Pro is taller, wider and thicker than Mi 14 Ultra.

This type of comment that certain sensor sizes aren't possible in phones exist for years and years, yet the sensors sizes and number of sensors increase slowly with time rending all "there is no space" commentators irrelevant.
