Xiaomi 15 series and OnePlus 13 to have ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensors

    Must be some patent for ultrasonic in display sensor expiring this year. I don't see any other reason why neither haven't implemented the tech for so many years and are now implementing it at the same time. Usually, each and every feature and especially hardware released by samsung/apple tales less than a year to appear on Xiaomi devices.

    I am a Xiaomi fan but this is just the reality ☠️

              A shame these flagships have to use crappy in-display sensors instead of superior physical sensors

                I think they should use rear-mounted sensors instead

I've maybe had like 3 times in entire year that it didn't register right and it was always in my car where I have a profile that flips my display in landscape and switches on drive mode and runs AIMP and I think this landscape mode makes it wonky. Never had issues when I'm just using the phone in normal mode.

                      I don't think ultrasonic is faster or more accurate than optical. From my experience optical is faster, and for positive fingerprint cases, it's more accurate. Didn't know if they are less accurate for negative cases though.
                      But where ultrasonic is better is that we can keep the screen off and it won't blast you with full power in dark environments.

                                    Sony was first to register patent , in 2012. Did not want to use.
                                    Meizu has patent from 2017. Did not want to use.
                                    Oppo and Vivo were testing, they quit this idea.
                                    Xiaomi had it, no longer .

                                    Much easier to use micro matrix from sony semicon. 4 tiny holes that be can fit into the narrow frames that can work as one larger regular cam.
