Stoon, 09 Mar 2024very weak batteryBro Motorola edge 40 pro have same batery with 125W charging spent 10 days in Dominician republic at hollidays traveling across all the country visiting many towns, villages and capitol city too. My phone never turns off due to dead battery and never had to use powerbank.
It always lasted until i came at hotel late eveing and made like 100 8K videos and around 2500 photos in that 10 days of my hollidays.
At main bank holliday of a year in Santo Domingo there were a millitary day where i saw like million + of soldiers in many various uniforms and a lot of machinery. Only at that day i took like 30 videos and around 600 photos. City were so full of people i came at hotel very late night with 4% battery but still phone where working.

Its the worst phone invention.
Rest of the specs is good.
My only problem is the curved screen and the fact from Edge 40 Ultra which is my main phone there is litterary no difference apart CPU and GPU which aint much.

So the UW got downgraded from 50mp to 13mp 🙄
Is this a new trend in 2024?
Xiaomi 14 Pro lost its 1 inch sensor, S24 Ultra lost its 10x optical zoom etc.

Controversial comment but I think they need to drop the edge display. It's an outdated design that most leading manufacturers including those that innovated it dropping it. I think these specs without an edge display sells more.

I wish they go with flat screen again, curved doesn't look good on Motorola design. Prefer if they look like Pixel 8 series .

HyperionBurn, 09 Mar 2024i mean is the user experience gonna be good enough? whats t... moreYes. The user experience is fine. You get bimonthly security updates till the end of the software cycle which is 4 years. 3 OS updates, so you will get A15,16 and 17. The recent OS updates have come very fast to Motorola phones. For example, Motorola Edge 40 Pro or Edge Plus 2023 got Android 14 already in January. Also the ThinkPhone is getting monthly security updates after a long time in Motorola's history. So, I think they are quite catching up with the competitors. Cameras have always been the Achilles heel of recent Motorola phones. But I hope they improve it in this series. Although you could install a GCam on your phone if you want to have Google processing. I hope they increase the number of security updates.
So, from the previous Motorola flagship launches, the general trend is that, you get a very good display, not a proprietory charger (125W), smooth stock UI with minimal bloatware (also separate buttons for Wi-Fi and Mobile data), good cell reception (never had trouble with connectivity), good camera hardware, competitive pricing. In the future, there will be also Smart connect feature, which allows a seamless multi device experience between Lenovo laptops, tablets and Motorola phones.
However, you get a worse camera processing compared to competitors, sub par video recording capabilities, which could be solved by GCam. There may be some bugs that may take some time to solve (kind of nitpicking at this point). Since they would start giving discounts after launch you could get it at a quite cheap price.

If ... moreX50 Ultra has a periscope, this alleged Edge 50 "Pro" does not.
I feel like this could be a vanilla Edge 50 - it looks pretty Basic. Or this is the Pro and X50 Ultra is only for China or is an Edge 50 Ultra.

This is actually a different phone than the X50 Ultra.
If you look closely at the design shown in the teaser it looks a bit different.
I once got agent an image of the X50 Ultra a while ago. The camera island is glossy and the cameras have a different layout that looks like this:

e64pro, 09 Mar 2024Is there any news for the normal edge 50 or the edge 50 neo?I‘m wondering too and I also hope they become lighter. A unique characteristic of Edge 30 and 30 Neo is that they were somewhat lightweight at 155 grams. Their successors became heavier.

MakeMotoBetterAgain, 09 Mar 2024no ugly camera ring, no weird separated cameras, just a sim... moreI kinda agree with some of your points, but on others you are daydreaming a bit, my friend.
Motorola unfortunately doesn't seem very motivated to enter the flagship fight. They do what they can and with their top tier phones, they really do very well. I'm even thinking about getting a 2nd hand Edge 20 Pro as secondary phone.
The main problem lies in their comfort zone: Midrange phones. It's absurd that a phone like Moto G7 has more value overall than newer phones from the same series. They also could improve their cameras for the class.
