Apple thinks 128GB is "lots of storage"

19 March 2024
A new video ad for the iPhone 15 is all about storing photos on your device.

Anonymous, 19 Mar 2024uh... 128GB is fine. I'd be fine with 64GB, actually, ... moreWell, it's mainly the photos and videos you take that takes up so much storage. A lot of people nowadays take so much photos and videos, so it's quite easy to go through the 128GB very quickly, let alone 64GB.

Sure, photos automatically get backed up into the cloud and you could delete them, but I am certain that some people (me included) prefer having a local copy of my photos and videos.

And besides, if you're the person that frequently takes a lot of videos, it will get annoying having to delete them more often than you want.

What do you guys do on your phones? I have a decent amount of apps installed and over a thousand images downloaded on my Pixel 6a and I still have 97/128GB free. Don't really play games though and I'm not much of a data hoarder.
Never understood people who use their phone as their primary computing device. I get it if you're not very wealthy, but even an old Haswell-era PC is so much nicer to use for doing stuff than a $1,000 phone.

Well then Apple, make next gen iPad 128gb as the base model please 😁

when I bought a 150 euro motorola phone with 128gb storage in 2021, I thought (wow, maybe in 2022 all flaghip phones will have 512gb base storage, right?)
            what a fool I was

It's the app sizes that need to go down more than anything. 1.7gb for facebook is insane. That's bigger than some of the older PC games!

It is an unusual thing I would say because android has been giving 128 from the very beginning, and it is not worth giving or making such ads on a basic storage. As per the size I have an Android i 128 gb varient. Yes I accept the fact it is not enough but I would say it is also not that less can be manageable after all no one keeps each and every media of any occasions.

128gb is not enough. 256gb is the bare minimum these days. I am currently using 170gb on my phone and I am not a heavy user. On my next phone I will definitely get 512gb.
                    Don't believe what Apple says.

[deleted post]128gb and 60hz is more than enough for me
if it would be 120hz i would disable it somehow

Apple's 128 GB is equal to 256 GB on Android phones.
Just like their 60hz is equal to 120hz and 8 GB RAM is equal to 16 GB RAM.

Non Pro iPhones primarily target uneducated fools who think Apple phone will improve their social status.

And yet most people use cloud 😁

Also i use cloud and i still have photos and videos also on my phone and again it doesn't take that much space. I'm starting to come to conclusion that Android is just very badly optimized for storage and things are taking lot more space in Android than what it takes in iOS.

I also used 256GB iPad pro for years and went to smaller 128GB with M2 iPad.

While I can understand why the base and plus iPhones may be well with just 128GB I don't understand how or why Pro iPhones don't start on at least 256GB.

I have a 256gb phone but 128gb is easily enough for me

128GB is plenty enough for me personally but I have a budget phone that I use for calling, texting and watching some youtube. My phone usage is below average. But nowadays for many people 128GB is not enough, but for a basic phone that iPhone is I think for most people 128GB is enough.
