Of course they only sold 500k symbian units compared to 5.6mil WP units. Because they had 6 new WP models they were selling and gave no symbian os option on the Lumina line.

This was planned and had nothing to do with sales this quarter. The symbian source was pulled last year and Nokia shutdown the webpage....only the developer toolkits were available.

But what you people don't and what the story doesn't tell you is the agreement made in Sept 2011 where Nokia turned over all development of symbian to Accenture! That's right.

Now you know why the symbian development cycles were so long and the costs were so high.

Wow. 22 months to develop a Symbian phone compared to 12 months for a Lumia...
I knew Symbian was a mess but I didn't realize it was such a complete train wreck.

Will stick to my N8 for some more time. Don't see a proper phone that could replace my good old N8. Too many oversized, and cheap toys out there. iOS and WP8 are restricted and limited, crapdroid is unstable and unnecessary complicated.

AnonD-78634, 13 Jun 2013why nokia whats goes wrong why you have failed to understan... moresymbian have reached the threshold of every key development any OS can achieve. look at the panoram views just coming to iOS when nokia already had it on 6120c looong ago.. great multitasking and fast app shortcuts for easier start.. their are so many innovations symbian achieved that are yet to be seen in other platforms.. this is a platform with almost no restrictions like using xplore and copying software root folders to another just like windows xp and the rest of it.. To me, it is still the most advanced OS till this day.. and N70 was a big start and i still have it

                          Nokia sold only 500,000 Symbian
handsets because Nokia did not ship it no more.
my Symbian phone is getting old, and i'm looking for a new Symbian phone to replace it.
i've been looking for brand new Symbian phone since 2012 to no avail.
all phone stores said that Nokia no longer sells Symbian phones and they only sell Lumia & Asha phones.
                          so it's their own fault.

Yes, I'm sad too, had many nokia phones not only symbian, but 7610, N90, N93, and still have a working 6700 slide and a not working N95 classic, also a N900 wich am writing on btw. I'll probably stick to N9 for my next phone or maybe a android but don't know, samsung, motorola, lg... There're so many options. It's a shame, they could still be the number one as they were (Nokia) Symbian, but Symbian let android, ios, even BADA pass it, Symbian didn't evolve as they should, and could, if I knew I'd develop a OS based on symbian, it was the most logical, simple etc, but the most bugful too. Enough, I write more after the comments.
