Since this is their first attempt, Samsung probably think its better to root out the possible kinks and bugs of seamless updates on beta testers...oops, I mean A55 users before implementing on the flagships.

Anonymous, 22 Mar 2024so even s24 won't get it? There's no way that Samsung would rearrange partitions on existing phones just to switch to this method. It could brick millions of S24s all over the world.

its a smurf, 22 Mar 2024That's just lame. From the article you've sent ... moreThe reasoning is that if an update fails, the other partition remains bootable (and I assume the phone automatically attempts to boot the other partition in such a scenario).

Having had this method on my Pixels, I can say that it's incredibly slow. I guess it doesn't matter having it applying the update in the background for 30+ mins, but being a geek, I'd rather the phone restarted and the update applied in a couple of minutes.

It's weird that S24 doesn't get this as their flagship, instead they give it to their mid ranger only. Huh?

When do iPhones have this feature? Because every time I update my iPhone, I can use it until it restarts.

So, you mean Galaxy A55 is the special edition to celebrate 55 years old of Samsung??

I will definitely buy then. Thanks for sharing 😎

From the article you've sent their reasoning for keeping both is as a backup of sorts which seems understandable I guess.

I don't like this seamless updates from the start. benafite is only save you cople minutes of your time as your phone is updating. but what is the trade off? your amount storage that you can use. as "AB partition" take 2 time storage than old single partition system.

its a smurf, 22 Mar 2024I have 0 knowledge on this but if it was mandatory for a13 ... moreSeamless Updates are a new way of installing updates, so instead of having to install the update while the phone is shut down (like it usually does), it installs it while the phone's running, and all it requires is a restart for applying the update. This way, updates are installed faster, and you can also use the phone while updating.

As for the mandatory part, well, Samsung might have a reason for not using it when it arrived in 2016 (Android 7), or maybe seamless updates got better than when it first launched? No one surely knows...

I'm a huge supporter for Samsung. It rocks now. Going to buy S24 Plus though my A52 still works pretty good.

I mean the particion "a" should be deleted after the update is complete no? So it shouldnt affect storage long-term

I think with Samsung, the OS image is so heavy that having two of these images will take up a lot of storage. Note to self: get the 512 GB version, next time.
