potato4k, 24 Mar 2024I really don't understand the DOJ's points. Apple... moreIt's called anti-trust legislation. It's deemed to be against the law! Refer to the break up of Standard oil NJ and Bell Telephone Co into the baby bells. It also happened to Microsoft when MS forced Windows users to use their browser and did not open the door to other browser tools. Apple is now in this situation. Be open or be gone.

@Apple!! This is height of making stupid comments.... LOL
Android smartwatches work with iPhones. But the reverse is not true because Apple watches are technically inferior to Android smartwatches. The "Tecnological Limitation" is with Apple devices, not Android.
    LOL

Apple is admiting nothing, cause they never tried. They are doing exactly what that comment said, and not only with the watch, but with everything they release...

I really don't understand the DOJ's points. Apple has been Apple since day 1, way back when. Vertical integration is not illegal. Many companies do this. The fact remains that Apple is hardly a monopoly considering there's a healthy competition. It's the US themselves who cut out Huawei as one of the potential great competitor. Now they're after Apple? It's like Tim Cook really did miss that check somewhere, so the politicians are all up in arms.

If they truly wanted to talk about monopoly, they should simply look at the ISP, utility companies, and pharma.

I'm calling bullshit to Apple; they have no such idea or plans to do anything other than to enhance their own benefit and stave off (the enemy) all others. It's just like Uncle Sam.

This is the time I missed Steve Jobs. If he was still alive, there would be a ton of entertainment as Steve would do numerous presentations to tell these people that they were wrong.

Tim cook is too diplomatic. Issues like this is when having a bombastic CEO like Jobs would've been more fun to watch.

Their profit margins are the only 'technical limitations'.

"Your honour, I was trying to RETURN all that money to the bank!"

This makes perfect sense despite the hate comments here. Apple iPods work with Android phones, and making the watch compatible with a app on Android would only drive more sales. The reason why not, is because of the App Store.

Darth Caesium, 23 Mar 2024These liars need to be broken upAnd should be kicked out of their jobs, lol 😂

It's completely tone deaf to act as if there are technical limitations in the most expensive brand in the mass market, and Symbian isn't this capped, to begin with.

If the claim Apple is making regarding why they can't get the iwatch to work with Android is true, user's of Apple products should be really concerned about their "privacy and security". Because, if Apple's developers are so incapable, they shouldn't be trusted regarding your privacy and security.

Suppose, an iPhone user want to switch to Android or try Android wouldn't be able to use his existing iWatch because it's incapable of working with other OSs. So the that user is forced to use iPhones only.

For instance, Apple blocks messaging notifications, calendar and email integration, and they even block message replies.

Stop hurting Apple's cause like this! You're literally making things worse by reminding how deep Apple's antitrust goes.

The marketing division is busy planting lies to reduce the size of the fine for antitrust.

If the DoJ reacts to this the same way the EU commission does, whenever Apple plants media disinformation during a trial, this will only serve to make the fine larger and punishment harder. Apple is like the scorpion saved from drowning by a frog. It just can't help making things worse for itself. It's in Apple's nature.

What about the other information from the internal email of 2019, written by Apple's Vice President of Product Marketing stating that "Apple also recognizes that making Apple Watch compatible with Android would remove an iPhone differentiator."

So a trillion dollar was clueless on how to make watch compatible with Android or did it deliberately ignore the Android phones to lock the users into the ecosystem?

I'd rather go for Samsung Watch 6 Classic instead. Looks cooler and is cheaper. Oops already bought it lol.

This article's title is too cute lol.

Apple OSes are based on BSD and Android OSes on Linux so there should be lots of similarities regarding what they are capable of. So why this?
