Well you can ask Samsung if they going to add equal warranty to number of uopdates in years.
So a 7 years support could have 7 years of warranty plus include water damage othervise giving an IPXX rating is nothing but an useless gimick not worth to have.

Of course its a win/win.
Crazy how if samsung didnt do this people complain (Apple fanboys and Samsung haters) and cos they did they still get hate
Damned if they do or they dont

You see, if a phone gets 7 years of OS updates, you can buy it for a good price in 3 years time and still get software support. That also increases the resale value. It's a win-win for everyone.

Some people who had their phones for 2-3 years do pass their devices on to a family member, and they will keep it for an additional 2-3 years. So its a win for consumers.
Apple fanboys used to go on about how 5 years of updates were amazing now Samsung do more its a waste :/
Cant make this up :/

because they release pretty much the same phone every year, and android is pretty much the same OS every year with minor changes, so they can offer 7 years because 1 update fits all mostly and is not like in the days where they used to come with a lot of changes yearly

Nobody that pays $1000, $1200 or $1500 keeps phone for more than 30 months unless it is person that got it anyway without financial conditions to do it. .
In USA, most iphone users get new one with 24 months when apple gives 6 versions of iOS.

My Fusion is only seeing one more update (Android 14). I'd like to enjoy Android 14 before Android 15 is released. I'll likely move to a different phone in 12 months, so the length of updates doesn't worry me.

To force other OEMs to do same, burn money and some quit phone business ( those that sell low volumes)

Normal people keep their mobile devices for years because they have become ridiculously expensive. OneUI is horrible. OneUI is worthless. There is no way OneUI will remain fluid for 7 years. Additionally, Samsung cannot offer timeliness in its software updates like Apple or Google. OnePlus is right to admit that offering 4+ years of software updates is a waste of resources if you're not Apple or Google.

Anonymous, 29 Mar 2024Can you ask manufacturers why they only make bricks that ar... moreSimple answer: big phones sell more specially in the asian markets. Larger screens are a bonus for content consumption to. But yes most 6.5' devices are about 200g there are exceptions though, anything lighter than 180g or something would have to be made out of cheap plastic

The first problem will be the battery.
Must to replace after several year and if Samsung will not produce spare parts that long it will be worthless.
