Putting the ability to move the tabs bar around is not demanding or unreasonable. Samsung Internet lets you move it's search bar up or down, with just one switch in the settings.

While reach... moreIt depends on users to choose how to grab a phone, some grab it by top to access notif bar and top bottons, some grab the bottom to access keyboard and home-backward bottoms. In chats users prefer to stay on bottom to type easier it was difficult to touch top nav bar.
The important thing is all the screen isn't accessible by one hand and users have to choose just a specific area as main access.

Not just it's impossible to bend thumb to more than 90 degrees, in this situation most of phone's mass happens to be outside of the palm. Little sudden move of finger and your phone will fall to the ground.
