On the camera sensor side, it's a hodgepodge of leaks. I've seen like three conflicting leaks so far including this one.

YUKI93, 02 Apr 2024I keep seeing this for like billion times, yet here we are ... moreNo. Sony I remember stated that as long as their other divisons (Camera, Audio, TV, Sony Semiconductor Solutions, Playstation and their various media/gaming ventures) make their profits, they can do whatever they want.
Unlike LG, Sony is a gigantic group that outputs a lot more money than LG, so it's not surprising that Sony is treating their mobile division more like a pet project.

I can't tell the difference on Samsung S95C 65" QDOLED.

They ... moreActually sony needs to put separate camera apps, auto mode with ultra hdr to attract point and shoot customers, and pro mode which keeps natural processing to content creators. Yeah it needs to research two things and can be incredible expensive, but come on sony, you need to do something about your sales.

Xperia 1 never had 4K. Sony loves to lie about specifications.
Go ahead, plug it into a big 4K monitor in mirroring mode. It's painfully obvious that it's 2K upsampled to blurry 4K. Force on "second screen" in the developer options and try again. Now the external monitor is sharp.

Surely MediaTek would offer an advantage in this regard. If so, it would be nice to see more OEMs use its chips. Sadly, Samsung is unlikely to be one of them.

The increasing price of chipset is real even many newest chinese midrange now starts using more inferior Snapdragon/Mediatek chip series, that has lower benchmark score than Exynos 1480.

Sony really needs to separate xperia camera auto mode (with more post processing to attract point and shoot customers) while retain it's pro mode (which is already incredible for content creators). Hardware wise, its already very capable.
