Mainly for people out in the sticks and still have 2g support.. good call (pun intended) larger battery..also good if you want to leave your 4/5g phone for a break.. all good so long as 2g support is available.

Umm yeah okay HMD you've earned yourself a FAIL badge again 2G what are you thinking?
I thought you may redeem yourself and release some feature phones that have some flavour with a decent camera and 4G, I mean you got the bigger battery and USB-C part right so why not the rest..

LTE is not only necessary, it's important, mainly because many carriers have already deprecated 2G and even 3G networks. so without the main selling feature, these phones would end up useless.

These ar... moreYou're confusing the idea of 4G = high speed internet.
4G is just one type of connection
Maintaining 2G base station is too costly for network operator.
One 4G base station can handle 1000x more user than 2G.
So, 2G will eventually phased out.

All HMD is achieving is tarnishing the name of a company that made great phones in its day. Let Nokia die with dignity.

good luck finding a carrier that supports 2G, many carriers either have shut it down or are shutting it down in the near future.

As already mentioned by many, why 2 G only ?
Why can't they put 4 G and can manage somehow to have Wi-Fi Hotspot.
It could have been great back up phone and will sell more.
Don't know about costing part though.

Even a 4G will be shuut down around 2030-2040 but 2G will never dies because its a lot faster than 1G and is used for GMS services only. Unlike 3G, 4G etc where never version is always better.

Supus, 11 Apr 2024You are wrong. My country shutdown 3g only. :)2G will eventually got shutdown.
Because running a 2G network is way too expensive.
A 4G base station able to handle a 20MHz wide frequency
whereas the 3G network is 5MHz, and 2G is even way less.
Many poor country just shutdown the 3G network first because they don't want to spend money to replace the user handset. Their idea is, with this strategy, if the user need internet, the user will buy a new phone. After waiting 2 or 3 years, the only user left in 2G will be very small number and giving them a new phone will not be too costly.
But...
Again...
Eventually, all 2G network will be closed due to inefficiency.
