12 April 2024
As previously rumored, it's shorter and wider than its predecessor.

Pumpino, 12 Apr 2024I think they should remove the cameras and battery too. :)Let's add a big fat notch too and make the internals unnecessarily difficult with a bunch of screw types. Oh, and make a core functionality be disabled when certain components are replaced

If 5 VI and 10 VI is going to have similar dimensions then I'm all for it. I like that Sony never bothered with front camera notches or punch holes that are just taking the screen estate. Just don't give 10 VI Snapdragon 695 again you can't even shoot in 4K 30fps on the back camera which for the price should be a feature that exists. Even Dimensity 1080 would be more appreciated.

Changing screen was to save money ( even with LTPO and high peak brightness it was more expensive than the other) but gsmarena thinks it has to do with other phone makers.

          🤦🏻‍♂️

Even with the change of aspect ratio of 21:9 to 19.5:9, at least it keeps the signature Sony Xperia boxy, rectangular, industrial-based design that Sony are known for since Xperia Z series was launched 11 years ago in 2013, unlike what they did with XZ2/3 design, blatantly following the trend, removing the jack, and then called out by everyone looking like "HTC U Ultra/U11 copy", such a bad time.

I don't mind a shorter aspect ratio though both 21:9 and 2:1 are way better than what most phones have now, but any phone wider than 72mm should be considered oversized, and this is what Sony shouldn't sacrifice it's iconic product for.

Unless it came from S... moreWell, OnLeaks have been leaking renders for almost 10 years now and almost of his renders are correct, and that is including Xperia 1 series, so the render design you're seeing here is pretty much accurate and final.

There hasn't been any Xperia Pro series since 2021 (and Ace since 2022), so it could have been that Sony have amalgamated Xperia Pro back into 1 series.

k0vasz, 12 Apr 2024good. now it only needs 4+ years of support and lower price... moreThere are rumors saying Sony will increase their update policy to 5 years of security patches (and probably 5 OS updates as well) to follow EU's recent new law, at least for the Mark 6 phones.

i am still sad about loosing 4k cropped 21:9 display...
i hope it comes back after 2 or 3 years, when its time for me to upgrade from 1v...
else, i will be considering a foldable that has 21:9, which is the z fold... unfortunately, even that is rumored to have wider display...

With the render already published, it is safe to say that, Sony Xperia is the last holder of front-firing stereo speakers feature after Asus ditched it with ROG 8 (and HTC with HTC 10, as well Google with Pixel 4 series). Just hoping that MicroSDXC slot is still there as well.

Sony do it right this time or throw in the towel...

The problem is that the auto mode on Sony phones can not take good photos as their competitors, but using manual mode you can take very good shots. Sony need to fix auto mode already, and improve AI as well.

So even a Sony company went to generic boring design and aspect ratio like many else companies,
                                How bad is that.
                                Sad day for most.

I am surprised Sony is still is in business.

The best camera sensors in the industry, yet their own cameraphones take terrible photos and video.

                                  Only 2 software updates.

                                  Super overpriced.

I'm glad that Sony decided to shift to a 19.5:9 ratio (according to the rumours). I was/am never/not a fan of the 21:9 and the 20:9 ratios. I prefer something wide and less tall than the other way around. Cinematic bullshit is not my thing but I do get it when you are a content creator, however I'm not convinced that a phone is the best tool for that. Never the less I would never buy a Sony in this range as they are much too expensive, just al any other so called premium device. I'm just hoping that Sony will do the same in the more affordable Xperia 10 range when it comes to the 19.5:9 ratio.
