"The PS5 Pro also comes with a "custom architecture for machine learning" and supports 300TOPS of 8-bit computation. Sony's PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaling solution will use about 250MB of memory"

Those that can run in 2160@60+ on PS5 can run on a 400$ PC like that as well.

I would get it if you can play games in Graphics mode at 4K 60FPS

            Should you buy a PS5-Pro ?
If you still don't have a XSX or PS5, and have just an XSS or lower- Yes, get it Day 1.
If you do have a PS5 or XSX - Maybe, it depends.

            Here's why it depends:
If the next-gen PS6 is coming in 2026, then do not buy this, stick with your Day 1 PS5.
If the next-gen PS6 is coming in 2030, then upgrade to the PS5 Pro asap and keep it.
The breakout point is Q4 2028. If the next-gen PS6 launches then or earlier, then stick with the Base PS5. If the PS6 launches after that day, get the PS5 Pro when it releases. And yes, I know, there is no way to read the future. But the points I raise are valid.

            Why the dates matter:
That way the extra features and performance of the PS5-Pro makes sense and is utilised for as long as possible. There is a probability that the PS6-generation will have a lot of crossover with the PS5-generation, which means anyone who have the "Pro" version will be able to take advantage of that transition for longer. It's because we're expecting the same architecture, just newer, so development will be fairly concurrent for a while. Also with Moore's Law behind us, the big leaps won't be coming, so either the PS5 generation will drag out longer, or the next-gen PS6 will come out very expensive, or they will swap to a two-tier system for games. Or a combination of the above.

            As a history:
In comparison, PS1 generation basically halted when the PS2 dropped. The PS2 halted as well, but had some crossover since the PS3 was so expensive/sold poorly initially. The PS3 was too old and slow when the PS4 dropped, so transition happened quickly especially since the old architecture was very different to the newer one. The PS4 is much slower and weaker than the PS5, but the former had so many units out in the wild, and shares the same architecture, so there was a prominent transition. The pan demic did drag this period out for longer. People who got the PS4-Pro on Day 1 had a decent experience, but those who got the XB1X or late entry to PS4-Pro sort of didn't get their money's worth.

Super Android 22, 16 Apr 2024So a what, 8 year old game that my phone could run at 4k 60... moreI think you're forgetting that the PS5 is already nearly 4 years old now.

Benchmark wise the 2080 Super is similar to the PS5's GPU, but games have always been optimized for console and run better on them. So they are capable to run games more efficiently. Something like a 4090 will of course be better since it's much newer.
