This phone just can't stop leaking.

Good god, the bezels on that thing are like other brand entry models.

Pumpino, 18 Apr 2024Which Moto device are you using? Are you happy with it?I'm using the Edge 30 NEO with 256 GB and 8 GB RAM and it's a very nice, compact phone that works incredibly smoothly and reasonably fast given the hardware. Very good phone, good battery and I'm somewhat of a MyUX fan which is stock android looking with the usual Motorola additions. More OEM's who want to use a stock version for their launcher should use this one, certainly brands like Nokia and Fairphone would be much off than with their Android One launchers.

True, the screen estate might be smaller but the overall size of them are almost the same as ones with bigger screens. A remarks that has been made several times by the way. It's a bezel thing. Non of it matters as it is mostly a question of taste and that something you cannot argue about but correct is correct, purely going by the specs then I have to say a Thinkphone is the better one compared to a pixel a (except for software support maybe which is equally important to many people and where Motorola, amongst others, is lacking behind big time) although not that much better as the regular or pro pixel phones. Anyway I have a Motorola device as well as a Pixel 7A and I'm happy about both of them with each their own pro's and contra's.

I don't doubt that you are very in love with your ThinkPhone but it is definitely very far from equaling a Pixel. Furthermore, the ThinkPhone is just another brick in the pile of bricks available on the market. Google's 'a' series offers compact and affordable devices.

Let's say I sell both iPhone SE 2024 and Pixel 8a at the same pricing. Bet there will be more people that buy the iPhone, even though Pixel is still far more superior in many ways.
The same goes to the software itself. People keep saying that Pixel OS is buggy af, while no one complains about how buggy iOS 16 and iOS 17 is.

The Pixel 6a takes better photos. The Thinkphone has better battery life, charges in less than half the time and has thinner bezels. The speakers on it are decent. Do you have both phones?

It has nothing to do with "small phone" being an issue. The issue is that phone is small and has massive chin and forehead, making usable display super tiny. On top of the fact that battery is also absurdly tiny and with high Apple price, it just doesn't make sense unless you absolutely want the cheapest iPhone. But then it's better to just buy 2 years old former flagship iPhone for about similar price.

Pumpino, 18 Apr 2024My Thinkphone is running Android 14.Pixel and Motorola are very, very, very different from each other. You probably don't even have a Pixel 6a. If you think your Motorola's cameras are "reasonable," you probably need prescription glasses. Enjoy your bloated, mediocre, stuck-on-Android-14 MyUX and mediocre stereo speakers, courtesy of Motorola.

This phone is starting to make less and less sense at the rumored price point of $500, given that you can easily get Pixel 8 on sale at $550 (even right now). The differences between the two phones are likely to be substantial.

I suspect 8a is going to quickly go on 'sale' at $400 or so within a couple of months. At that price, 8a would be good deal (even with the huge bezels).

GSMArena commentators are allergic to light and compact devices. The iPhone SE (2024) receives the same rejection that this Pixel 8a receives. But that shouldn't surprise anyone, devices like the Samsung A54, A55 and S24 Ultra always top GSMArena's Top 10 lists.
