That's a bit simplistic to believe that. But again, it's just that the US wants to be the ruler of the world and, in their minds, would solely be allowed to perform spionage on a corporate level. They're as bad as the assholes from the CCP. And when I say assholes I don't mean the normal people who just want to live their lives as good as possible. I mean the same kind of people as in the dark corridors of the US gouvernement but then in a different building somewhere in China. The power hungry people. All a bunch of crap.

They banned not 1 but 59 apps in first lot, all chinese. Can you explain why fb wasn't banned when it is the top candidate of privacy invading apps.

I honestly think users should be able to do what they want, You want to watch 5 second videos for 2 hours a day and have the Chinese possibly harvesting your data? Ok cool. You want to uninstall all the bloat like Facebook that came with your nearly $1K phone? Ok cool. These big companies should just let the users be and not interfere.

For the whole society on earth, the planet we love, it really doesn't matter if Tiktok is banned in the US. Hopefully the US people know what a VPN is. The problem is if the US succeeds in forcing Bytedance to sell the US branch of Tiktok, to the US. Because it will make the US dollar stronger when many countries dedollarize. Of course this is bad news if this happens.
