13 May 2024
It will be replaced by allegedly better software processing.

Their goal is to one day use 600MP and remove periscope as well.

I would much rather have fewer cameras that are the best possible (or close to it) in as many ways as possible ... than more cameras at the expense of inferiority (in any and/or all ways).

The 5x isnt significantly better than the 10x it replaced then how do they expect to convince us that this would be a better move ?

"Samsung will instead aim to convince us that the main camera on the S25 Ultra is able to take 3x zoom shots as well, if not better than a dedicated unit would have."

Unfortunatelly they are very good at convincing their buyers that every downgrade they make, while making their phones more and more expensive is for good reason, so even if this ends up being true it won't hurt Samsung, which is sad.

[deleted post]As expected. Cuz you already know people care more about Samsung. 🤔

Even more reasons to stay with the S23 Ultra.

VeraxTech, 13 May 2024Let's hope it is the case.We will see by the end of this year if an Chinese OEM like Vivo or Xiaomi uses it, kinda like how they did with the 108MP module used first by Xiaomi in the Mi Note 10, and then refined for the S20 Ultra.

This probably applies to the ISOCELL HP9 used by Vivo in their X100 Ultra, so Samsung can use it in their S25U.

Good. The 3x zoom was trash anyway

I remember reading leaks from Weibo that the S25 Ultra should launch with the belated ISOCELL 200MP 1-inch sensor, meant to compete with the LYT900 and being able to leverage its Tetra2Pixel approach to get up to 4x lossless zoom.

Let's see how it turns out.

IpsDisplay, 13 May 2024Obviously this will lower the price by $200 Trust me on ... moreYes, and I've heard that they will do "buy one get one free" as well with this one.

Quietly try to follow SONY footstep removed 1 camera from last year xperia 5v .

Obviously this will lower the price by $200

Trust me on this one 🙏

Samsung need to present a new bigger sensor, a new portrait mode and change the small lens rings to something that doesn't gather dust all around that makes it impossible to clean.
After using the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Vivo x100 Pro I can say that I'm very disappointed in the performance of the S24 Ultra.

if 2 step zoom were to be a thing then I would like to see big sensor with 1 zoom at 55mm and another at 85mm...(70mm and 100mm if they can pull it off.)
I'm afraid, just as Samsung like to advertise they might go tiny sensor and top zoom may be ~130mm ...
