Nicer aspect ratio = unable to display any kind of content without black bars, something it could with 21:9 (industry standard, like 16:9 and 17:9 aka DCI).
Sony can lie as much as they want, this change was to save money. Nobody there believes it is any useful over 21:9, that is still used by 10 series.

Even if they launch in India, i won't be getting one because it throttles! Even after putting in a vapour chamber the phone still throttles! It is a deal breaker for me!

top model is good, can't afford though so will still get a zenphone 9/10 at some point as it is also small with a 3.5mm. the lesser one is definately that in all aspects [especially the aspect ratio].

Anonymous, 19 May 2024Won't buy the 1 VI because inferior display.I would because it's wider (if it were still available in the U.S.) but it really should have been less expensive.

I would not choose it over mark 5 because except SoC and periscope, nothing is better.
Anyway, other charge more and give you nothing (apple) or just charger/case that are worth €30-40 at most (xiaomi).

Last year, Sony actually made some improvements on the 1 V, a redesign (with questionable drop of telephoto) in the 5 V and a light refresh on the 10 V.
This year, they dropped a nuclear bomb on their lineup, which seems to be made up of spare parts. And with no 5 VI to hear about, one wonders what are they actually trying to do here. It seems like they let an AI decide everything for this year models.

I'll be buying the 1 VI. I really need to vote with my wallet. The excellent macros, improved screen (for practical use like brighter display, variable refresh rate, better battery), the improved battery life, still kept headphone jack and micro SD card slot. I really feel bad for people losing sleep over a sub-7 inch 4K display. Please buy a TV, guys. It's a phone. The brighter display and better battery life makes way more sense on a phone. I have to show Sony that these features still matter. I'll be buying one.
Is there any rumor on a US release date?

Anonymous, 19 May 2024Won't buy the 1 VI because inferior display. Not really for sure how it's inferior. You're watching 4K content on a sub-7 inch display? Lol buy a TV, my boi. 1080p display but here's all the advantages - it's significantly brighter, it's variable refresh rate, and the battery life is WAYYYY better. You'd trade all of that just to watch 4K movies once a year on your smartphone? For what?
