CargoJoe, 22 May 2024I have no idea what this phone is for. Probably an RX replacer. For ultra high definition Video recording like 1V, but with another level of quality

Anonymous, 21 May 2024They have my full attention with that 6.0 screen... Hoping ... moreWell it could be very interesting phone and it surely will but not with a 6 inch size.
Small or rather say tiny phones are useless PERIOD.
You cant cram good specs into a small phone.
Also reading and typing on a tiny screen is horrible experience.

      No telephoto no ultrawide.
It reminds me the Nokia pureview with 5 cameras doing the same thing.
At least it got 45W charging.
It could be 450W would not mind.

I don't know Sony, but you could've simply put in the RX100 VII camera inside an Xperia 1 or Xperia 5 body. I would so love to have one!

it's just a rumor and another claims that there will be nothing other than 1 VI and 10 VI in 2024.
So no temptation to change 1 VI which comes out in 2 weeks.
I prefer large screens but I'm sure a new compact between 5.0" and 6.0" would do good sales for Sony.

Anonymous, 21 May 2024No, FHD or Full HD is 1920 x 1080. 2K FHD can only mean 192... moreYou really don't understand how this works, when the display's aspect ratio is not 16:9, yet you insist that your knowledge is the pinnacle of knowledge. That's your main problem. Go take a walk, not play stupid games.

20mm of focal length is WIDE, it nears the ultra wide territory and I doubt portraits might not be as desired
                    But let's see
And I am quite sure they won't ditch the uw and tele, since it is gonna be Sony's top smartphone so I bet they won't compromise

If it's keeping a 21:9 aspect ratio, it'll be a little skinnier/taller than a Zenfone 9/10, which is in turn a little skinnier than a Galaxy S22-24. Would be great to have a new small feature-complete flagship.

Sa... moreIt doesn't matter - You're still combining two versions of the same frame converted with different gain settings, one optimised for highlight capture (Low gain) and another optimised for lower noise level (high gain), improving the dynamic range.

There's a forum post on DPReview that highlights the difference between Mi 11 Ultra's 10-bit and 14-bit (DCG HDR) single frame outputs - a MASSIVE difference in noises in the shadows despite both being shot using the same ISO/shutter speed settings.

QHD from Boe, TCL, Tiamna and China Star is far cheaper than high tier FHD made by Samsung. They could easily drop samsung in favor of these just to save money.

No tech site has ever noticed all 5 gens had same screen, with just updated drivers.
The Z series used LCD from 3 suppliers, ppl could not tell them apart.
Current CEO do not like selling electronics, just PlayStation. So , costs cuts are mandatory.

Nick Tegrataker, 21 May 2024Or we can use 1---p instead. X100 Pro has 1260p, iPhone 15... moreThe thing is, you can't force everyone to use the same terminology. One may say that the display resolution of the Xperia is 1080p, and another person may say that it's 2K, and both of them are correct. The problem is that some people may say that one of them or both of them are wrong. If everyone uses the same terminology, it doesn't matter if you call one resolution 1080p or 2K.

A 20mm F1.8 stabilised lens with a type-1 sensor sitting behind it is a certainly interesting choice.. It would be clearly aimed at vloggers from the looks of it.
The 14-bit dual conversion gain output is really neat. Samsung and Omnivision have been doing this for the past few years now, but better late than never and I'm glad that Sony would be joining the other two.

Unlike ZV-1F, its specs do seem very nice for a walk-around ultrawide video camera - All they need to do now is to price it competitively.
