Nick Tegrataker, 21 May 2024Or we can use 1---p instead. X100 Pro has 1260p, iPhone 15... moreThe thing is, you can't force everyone to use the same terminology. One may say that the display resolution of the Xperia is 1080p, and another person may say that it's 2K, and both of them are correct. The problem is that some people may say that one of them or both of them are wrong. If everyone uses the same terminology, it doesn't matter if you call one resolution 1080p or 2K.

A 20mm F1.8 stabilised lens with a type-1 sensor sitting behind it is a certainly interesting choice.. It would be clearly aimed at vloggers from the looks of it.
The 14-bit dual conversion gain output is really neat. Samsung and Omnivision have been doing this for the past few years now, but better late than never and I'm glad that Sony would be joining the other two.
Unlike ZV-1F, its specs do seem very nice for a walk-around ultrawide video camera - All they need to do now is to price it competitively.

Anonymous, 21 May 2024Let's stop this fighting for once. Please use sources ... moreNo, FHD or Full HD is 1920 x 1080. 2K FHD can only mean 1920 x 1080. FHD+ is an umbrella term that refers to resolutions higher than FHD. QHD or Quad HD as I said is 2560 x 1440. In the same way, QHD+ is an umbrella term that refers to resolutions higher than QHD.

2K, 4K resolutions technically only imply 2000, 4000 horizontal pixels, but, for a typical consumer, it also means 1440 and 2160 vertical pixels. But that's only if the aspect ratio is typical, which, nowadays, is 16:9. That's why it's incorrect to call such a screen only 2K or only FullHD. But let's not get our heads wrapped in the smallest of things, let's enjoy this sun while we can.

Let's stop this fighting for once. Please use sources that are at least somewhat good, not some random AI made websites that are full of ads.
We call a resolution a *K (* is any number, most commonly 2, 4) resolution because this refers to the display's horizontal resolution. We call a resolution HD, because it has a horizontal resolution of 1280 pixels in 16:9 aspect ratio and 720 pixels in vertical resolution. However, this naming only implies the horizontal resolution of 1280 pixels, there is a big number of different horizontal resolutions because of aspect ratio differences. However, this moniker enforces the vertical resolution, which should always be 720 pixels.
Saying that 2340x1080 is a 2K display or a FullHD display is not correct in pedantic terms. We say that this is 2K or FHD because it takes less time to understand and also write it, as well as more people are going to understand what are you trying to imply.
What I am saying is, if we are being pedantic, then the most correct term for a 2340x1080 display would be 2K FHD or FHD+. 2K implies that there are around 2000 horizontal pixels and FHD implies that there are 1080 vertical pixels. FHD+ implies that there is more than the standard 1920 horizontal pixels, but the vertical resolution is 1080 pixels. End of story.

Anonymous, 21 May 2024Current QHD should be called 3K, but many still say 2K.
T... moreFHD 16:9 --> 1920x1080 (almost 2K on width; also known as 2K; Cinema 2K 2048 × 1080)
QHD 16:9--> 2560x1440 (2.5K on width; also known as 1440p; overall 4 times pixels on 720p)
4K UHD 16:9 --> 3840x2160 (almost 4K on width and in Cinema 4K 4096 × 2160 )
This is valid only for 16:9 aspect ratio screens. Nowadays smartphone displays have odd 20:9/19.5:9 screen sizes --> Though FHD+ and QHD+ might have the same 1080 and 1440 on height, they will have different width (reason why "+" is mentioned; no single name is agreed upon)
Now coming back to arguments here; 2K means FHD+ and it should have almost 2K pixels on width with minimum 1920p. Once the height on width increased significantly depending on aspect ratio and reaches 2.5k on width and 1440p on height, it is no more 2K. Most of these resolutions are defined by the overall number of pixels present. You can't call 4000p width and 1p height a 4K because you only have overall 4k pixels on the screen where as true 4K will have almost or over 8,294,400 pixels."
