Same music each year, promising tensynos greatness and nothing delivered great in the end - but still asking 1000 for a sneakynos phone.

Will keep my old 8gen2 Samsung as much as I can, until they or another brznd really improve something

They could really make a fine 2nm chip...

.. once they improve their 5nm, 4nm, 3nm chips to the point where its acceptable if not outright fire breather,
...and improve QC to the point where they avoid churning out living disaster phones like M55.

DeepIn2U, 24 May 2024And yet SD 8 Gen 3 is made by Samsung and TSMC for the S24 ... moreWhat are you talking about? SD8gen3, all variants, are fabbed by TSMC.

Fabrication matters. Take SD8gen1 and SD8+gen1. First one was fabbed by Samsung, second one by TSMC. Same exact design, huge difference in performance and efficiency.

Having said that, Samsung is getting better. Exynos 2400 is a marked improvement over the crap 2200. But Exynos and Snapdragon is diverging as Qualcomm will adopt their custom Oryin cores. As such, Samsung will go full exynos on the S25 series, and only use Qualcomm for their foldables.

I can't see Google spending $200 for soc like 8 gen 3 or D9300, at best if they go back Tsmc they will use midrange soc.

Also when we talk legendary soc for battery life we are talking about snapdragon 625 and Exynos 7870, both manufactured by Samsung at that time, nothing came close to them in Gsmarena battery test.

When Tsmc move from 20nm went to 16nm it was still inferior to Samsung, it was until 7nm when Tsmc had clear lead over Samsung.

Anton .el PAPI., 23 May 2024Hopefully pixel 10 won't have this garbage by 2025!Google is destined to fail, don't believe a new node will fix it. Exynos were bad but still better than Tensor, so watch Google release a potato even when using TSMC.

TSMC's 4nm will still be better than samsung's 3nm. Samsung is clueless and not as competent as TSMC.

MindTheGap, 24 May 2024The problem is majority of chipsets that produced by Samsun... moreWell color you blind! And incorrect.

Once again folks over generalization (a tactic used by the vague and uninformed) fails!

                    1. Samsung makes a HUGE variety of chips

                    2. Samsung makes the fastest HMB Memory chips for AI networked compute servers by Nvidia! HMB3E they received a huge order of those.

                    3. Laptop and desktop and gaming chips along with portable storage is THE top in the industry for decades!!

Soon advancements in mobile GPU will be much more energy efficient however not matching Qualcomm but getting closer than the were from AMDs garbage RDNA3 IN the 2400. I k ow I know this will get shat on all over here but S24/S24+ did a LOT better than many of you expected before launch. It's NIT there of course. Qualcomm mistakenly believed in AMD but they hell does AMD know about smartphone GPU's anyway?!

They've announced a NEW chip head so we'll see in 2yrs what can be done and how it can match. Next year 2nm node (marketing of course) will be smaller die and more power efficient than the 8 Gen 4 but nowhere near the GPU performance. Expect the dual cpu skus like this year with the S25 series.

Sure, they're improving, but still ain't better than TSMC. Just look at Exynos 2400 or Exynos 1480, when chipsets from competitors like Snapdragon and MediaTek, which is produced by TSMC, offer better performance and efficiency on the similar price range.

Let companies compete and let the consumer decide. Just the way it ought to be. Don't care who is ahead or behind, best or worst just as long as they don't stop striving for the consumers money. That competition will produce higher quality products at lower prices. How can anyone be against that?

Most good flagship soc up to sd 845 were manufactured by Samsung and during that time Exynos was better, there was time Qualcomm had inferior Tsmc manufacturing process and made disaster like sd 810 while Samsung had better E7420 with better manufacturing process, then Qualcomm shift to Samsung process and made good soc like 835 and 845.

If you check roadmapp for Samsung and Tsmc 2nm you can see as of now Qualcomm wasn't mentioned by Tsmc as 2nm customer but it's there as Samsung customer.

With Tsmc Price increase and Samsung Fab being good again soon you will see top soc are made by Samsung again.

Hopefully pixel 10 won't have this garbage by 2025!

I know yall are still salty about all the Samsung foundry fails of the last few years, but this is actually a big step. FinFET was introduced with 10nm, when Samsung was still competitive. I do believe that this could actually be another big jump for them.
