Launch will be probably in 2050

Sounds like it will be a MacBook. Or maybe Apple will create a new line. iFold? 😅

Foldable but not a tablet or a MacBook. Maybe a new category of products. Who knows. This is definitely not a smartphone replacement from Apple.

3499 dollars!?What an absurd price for a first foldable

I think we should test the foldable's durability by folding and unfolding the phone many times or maybe throw it really hard to a wall to find out if the foldable is worth that price 😂😂💀💀

JLC, 24 May 2024$3,500 would not be even expensive. The "Lenovo ThinkP... morepretty sure those come with all you need in the box, keyboard, pencil and a fast charger.

SamsungRules, 24 May 2024A foldable screen will never be crease-free; gsmarena. No m... moreNot quite true.
It depends on the material, and it depends on the angle. If you use something like Plastic, that would want to crease. And if you have the fold in a tight angle, like the Samsung Galaxy Fold, yeah, it's way too extreme and it will crease.

If you look at the Microsoft SurfaceBook Pro, the one from a few years ago. That was a tablet that can dock into a keyboard base, which housed the ports and a dGPU. The reason to mention that, is because the hinge mechanism had a wide-circle mechanism when it was folded shut. Such an approach can be taken for foldables BUT it would mean your 9mm device will have a bulge on one of the sides, let's say of 20mm. And that is probably not acceptable for a device that is meant to slide in and out of pockets.

A much better solution is to have an external-fold device. Basically like the first foldable device that we saw hit the market, The Huawei MateX Fold. It is superior to the latest Samsung Fold in design, albeit in terms of concept or theory, since the execution of it was very low-quality and it was worse than the first Samsung Fold. So if any OEM can execute this concept properly, you can make the best compromise.

HopeFilledIdiot, 24 May 2024I sure hope nobody buys it at that rumored price...$3,500 would not be even expensive. The "Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold 16 Gen 1" can be purchased right now for €5,009 from Lenovo's Spanish online shop. Even the older "Asus ZenBook Fold OLED UX9702AA-MD007W 17,3" still costs $3,498 on Asus' Spanish online shop.
Expects Apple's to cost at least $5,000.

Apple won't come up all of sudden with some kind of alien technology. They will just use what others, most probably Samsung, have matured by then. And yes, whatever they may use (buy) will be Innovation, but from their supplier, not theirs.

14" when folded.....why not just call it foldable television?

XCIV, 24 May 2024Apple already has foldable devices, they're called iPad. lmao got em

I sure hope nobody buys it at that rumored price...

These devices are quite large and sound like a hard pass for me.

See if Apple manages to fix the plastic scratching and spoiling screen issue. Then that can be called innovation.
