pl2rts, 02 Jun 2024These people dont seem to be the innovating group. They see... moreI would say otherwise about Sony, because they were a forgettable brand with bland, poorly-optimized phones until they implemented a 21:9 display, MicroSD slot and 3.5mm jack on a Nokia 6610i-based design. Still, they may not do well in terms of optimization, but the hardware deserves appreciation imho.

If this phone with mid-range specs feels like overpricing, remember the fact that Sony launched their ultra-mediocre L4 with the then-ancient Helio P22 chipset with Cortex-A53 cores at a launch price of US$500 in almost all markets outside Europe. Still, it didn't generate expected sales, and is far poor value than any HMD phone to date.

The only skyline I know is from Nissan

pl2rts, 01 Jun 2024What do you mean Split from Nokia ??? HMD had license to u... moreYes, that's what I meant: splitting from using the Nokia branding for their smartphone line-up (they use it now only for feature phones). So they might come up with a Lumia-inspired phone on a non-Nokia branded device.

Minu, 02 Jun 2024Even if that's the case, it makes perfect sense to cal... moreThese people dont seem to be the innovating group. They seem to be the basic office workers. As we can see they have no talent on making good product. They call this Skyline as premium phone while have budget phones specs.

For the price of this one HMD Skyline you can get a Poco Pad and Poco X6 with both having the 7s gen 2 in them. Well maybe need to add like 20-40 Euro more to get both or it depends on the storage and ram version of the Skyline.

To be honest i dont understand why do they even use the word skyline. It's like Nissan Skyline that is a total beast and know for everyone. Even tough there is nothing beast about HMD phone

Also Sony is bad example to give when that has long history and brand recognition.
Also cant be compared to Nokia that sold their mobile department to Microsoft and when it was ended with the Microsoft then they started the brand HMD as a new thing that can use Nokia branding. But after their first generation they started to make only trash. Sony have 3 classes covered. Entry level, middle class and premium flagship. While HMD flagship is budget to middle class hardware at best

It's more or less the same thing that happened with Sony Ericsson back then, when their then existing, outdated inventory got rebranded to "Sony Xperia".

while Samsung and other brands eliminate the charger to be more "ecological"

                              HMD contributes more electronic waste

There's nothing really European about HMD other than their legal address.

                                        Didn't you mean Nokia?
