Samsung has shipped 20 million Galaxy S4 units already

03 July, 2013
That's a lot faster than the Galaxy S III reached 20 million and just a month after the S4 hit the 10 million mark.

This makes me wonder how many of those got shipped back. I work at a support center for AT&T, and i can say that a good 70% of the S4s that come in for warranty service aren't covered due to their super flimsy plastic design bent the wrong way and cracked the super AMOLED screen. Sure the gorilla glass is fine, that's always good, but the SAMOLED gets easily broken.

I don't like any Samsung smartphone, but I can congratulate them for this achievement because at what they do, they are excelent, with space for improvement. Ok, congrats Samsung! But next time avoid skateboard like designs.

And still on the 80 million target? Have you completely missed the news where analysts are all now downgrading SGS4 sales expectations, and the stock price which has taken a battering? Unbelievable!

Lets see how many they have actually sold.

iPhone 5>all other smartphones, its that simple.

Samsung is just releasing devices on devices, with same design. I think Samsung is waiting for Apple to release their next iPhone so that Samsung can copy it. Lol. Giant ugly phones by this Giant company.

With your mechanism. Popularity = good marketing = may result huge demand. Unless retailers just wait for someone like you to decide if there's a demand (would be too late by then) By the way, it's not easy to obtain consolidated sales from all the non Samsung retailers in a short period of time hence it is logical why they only state SHIPPED.

In the phone store i work in is pretty big in a big city. And we never had that many of any model at any one time stocks are linked to central system and orders are automatic and not until we sold all s4 would we get a new batch in on a next day basis this is how you often get out of stock issues during the first few weeks due to say only having 2 devices in stock in the evening and then selling both next morning leaving shops out of stock.... while this figure of 20 million is for devices shipped. The actual figure will not be to far behind. And it will not count in the Activ, S4s, Zoom, or mini units as they are different models and most are not released yet anyway....i would guess at closer to 18 million units actually sold with the other 2 million in warehouses and store shelves and transit etc.

Otherwise Samsung as a company has sold the units to the retailers already. This article is about Samsung's sales not individual retailers... Did I mention Samsung's sales book is still growing!!

A salesmen/retailers do not always order shipments base on demand. Sometimes(here), they order it for the popularity as the device is popular so why not buy a stock of it for the rainy days. While in actual practice, every shop runs behind profit and as the markets mechanism, they never buy stocks of expensive things as if there is no huge demand.

Mostly(90%) above retailers buy smartphones like this one from outlets of the company because they don't want to pay extra duties on imports. Therefore, these shipments are being brought in a country on the order of the company's outlets/franchise. Get it? :)

But you didn't answer my one question. Why they never wrote "sold-out"?

Units shipped is different from units sold. Go figure Samesung fanboys.
