The month-on-month change is negative too, breaking HTC's positive streak.

HTC should've known that if their survival hinges on a flagship, they are not allowed to slip in a deal-breaker like that 4MP camera. At the HTC One's price, I'd like my camera take pictures that are usable at 100% crops.

I really don't mind updates. GB is still the best android, but HTC focused too much on high specs phone, high-end and high midrange with high price. They compete with other brands that they could easily be challenge with many alternatives. They should establish first a stronghold on a range that they could dominate before challenging other brands comfort zone.

sherlock holmz, 05 Jul 2013ooooo thats a joke my god!! whats matter!! i have one x fo... moreHTC used to be the best, and they're far away from that position at the moment. Hardware-wise, their build quality is still very good. However, they always left their customers behind on the software aspects. There are many excuses to defend their strategy such as the phone is still working fine, you can install custom ROMs, ... However, in the end, customers should be able to have the best user experiences, bug fixes and security fixes as long as their hardware satisfies the requirements. As a mattter of fact, HTC will left previous customers out in the cold and you have to find ways to have new software on your phone on your own. I wish that reviewers will be more honest about the way HTC treats their customers in this respect whenever they do a review about a HTC phone.

ajp, 05 Jul 2013I have a htc one and everything is excellent the main thing... moreIt is rarely mentioned in any review about any HTC devices about their policy on software update. That's why many users out there didn't make an informed decision when it comes to software update. Although HTC is rolling out 4.2.2 to HTC One owners, you can expect that it is the last official update you will get with this device. If you want to have an official update from them, you should better buy a new one. HTC simply doesn't care about updating your already purchased device and you'll have better service by looking elsewhere.

I was torn between choosing a secondary handset after my Xperia Z- either HTC One or Galaxy S4. Initially, I was very impressed by the HTC One; its sleek metallic design, its gorgeous screen, the front speakers, and beauty were quite awesome. The S4 was ok in the looks department, though it cannot beat HTC One (the One wins by a mile!). However, I was taken aback by the huge bezel, weight, its similar sound quality with the Xperia Z (though One has higher volume output due to the overhyped Beats feature), non removable battery, the so-so daylight picture quality and the non-expandable memory/ SD card feature. I have a lot of FLAC files in my 32 and 64-GB SD cards I usually swap on my Xperia Z. At the end of the day, the GS4 was a no-brainer purchase. I am really sorry HTC! I would hope that, probably in the future, HTC will release a design as awesome as the HTC One but with the features "most" Android users would want in their smartphones.

I have a htc one and everything is excellent the main thing letting htc down is its inability to get updates out quick 4.2.2 was may then june now its july and its only just hit Taiwan. Even sony has the 4.2.2 update out now for the SXZ s4 came with it out the box and if im honest id rather have a plastic s4 and get up to date software then a piece of alloy that's out of date.

no SDcard slot that is your 1st problem HTC
                  huge bezel is another one
non removable battery added to more pain
expensive, compare it to samsung and LG with same range hardware HTC still more expensive.
even the flagship HTC one still more expensive than SGS 4 or optimus G pro, dont forget SGS4 and optimus G pro have bigger screen and more sensors than the one.
i guess HTC motto is give less ask more.
if you only want to compete using style and design, just close your factory and start to jump to fashion business HTC.

I believe these low profit results are due to the lack of better MARKETING,only. The HTC One is easily one of the best sets available. It's very pretty, premium built, powerful enough to any task you may want, has a good battery size, even there are 32 AND 64Gb versions, so, it's not even A problem of low storage!!

Marketing, a better marketing team will take them to equal Samsung profits (plus hearing their consumers of course).

                          - L.

It's not the product rather their marketing strategy which is killing HTC.In the coming years concentrate more on developing this ecosystem then through in your brilliant products to the consumers.

AnonD-115286, 05 Jul 2013Lol, perhaps, and that is the power of marketing.....Also that but more it's missing brand name, samsung is everywhere, people buy samsung tv's everyday so its not rocket science to figure out that those people also very easily buy samsung phone.

I think HTC one is very interesting phone, but end of day i wouldnt buy that. It would be easy to buy sgs4, my friend have one, i have tested it (didnt like) but still if i had to buy android, i think i still would choose samsung phone, because i know its safe choice.

I have no idea about HTC and the phone is very expensive, so how many will risk it and buy something unknown.

It takes years to build brand name, and you only get it with great products and happy customers and still it takes long time, but its gettin bigger and bigger, just like apple and samsung now.

HTC One is a pure craftsmanship, but due to its lack in some cases, it didn't sell well ): Seems like Samsung is overtaking them. HTC, if you're reading this please do something about it. 4MP UltraPixel, we don't want. Please create a better technology for the camera and also add micro SD and removable battery. HTC can so much better. If i had to choose between HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4, i would blindly go for HTC One because of the fact that Sense UI doesn't lag.

Too bad samsung doesnt sell HTC one, if that would have been samsung phone, it already had oversold sgs4 easily.

But like seen so many times, name and brand helps so much, HTC just doesnt have that, even they have best and best looking android phone out there.
