Anonymous, 14 Jun 20244400mAh is still laughably small for this kind of device. I... moreI'm also a huge fan of competition. But when you see large popular sellouts killing off competition because of SamApple, you wonder whether it's even worth competing in the first place. If you look closely at LG's exit from the smartphone market, you notice both MKBHD and Mrwhosetheboss made an SEO clickbait fest on "Why people don't buy LG phones anymore". It's because of sellouts like them that cause LG to surrender and leave the field. If we really want to embrace competition, we can't give our attention to sellouts like them just because they have millions of subs. They can make cringe content and still get lots of clicks for it. That kind of attention needs to stop permanently!

AngryLithuanian, 14 Jun 2024So what is this extra 100 for? Save a couple or a few hundr... moreSeems like the specs of the Z Fold 6 are intentional to be based.
My thoughts:
It'll sell quite well globally, not simply for no competition of products of much higher specs but simply because of reliable and accessible support for hardware/software defects/issues/bugs/security patch update timing!
The design is still 'professional' or classy and not too unique ... over time a fancy design gets old VERY fast. Trends or fashion on anything dies VERY quickly. Even if its a classic - the only TRUE classic that continues to sell well over a long time is due to slow iterative design changes.
Example:
Porsche 911 .. for the past 40 years their design is iterative and classic - but NOT the performance when owned and used. There are a few years here and there where generational design changes only have very short or barely noticeable performance advantages or increases but when USING the product it either, turns better, grips the road better, less issues on hardware requiring maintenance, etc.
I think this is the hardware engineering motto that Samsung has been following over time.
Also significant design changes have huge cost/expenses and intensity on R&D on the balance sheet. Samsung has HUGE profits and readily accessible cash over $12 Billion USA currently and growing. We have no idea what their saving it for ... but it may be a few short years before we see a major design change across the board.
we'll see and I think the Z Fold Premium will debut in first quarter of 2025.

Thick, same small battery, same-ish specs. Samsung is living in the past lol. I don't even care about their 5 or whatever years of software updates. Most people who could afford flagships move on to the next one after 2-3 years

So what is this extra 100 for? Save a couple or a few hundred and get yourself Fold5 if it has to be a Samsung. But honestly, Honor, Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi, 1+, all of them look better, even with their own flaws, than Fold6. Sad, seems like Samsung ain't even trying. Unless this is intentional to make Fold Ultra look more appealing. 🤔

Anonymous, 14 Jun 20242 screens, none of them is ltpo. Obvious tip samsung plan... moreSome $500 phones are LTPO and for 4x the money, you get bog standard LTPS. Laughable.

No change in battery size? Then, no thanks I'll just stick with my current fold. The only real thing I wanted was dramatically better battery life but since the mah is not changing, I can only expect a small increase in battery life due to efficiency changes. Was really hoping for 5000mah or at least 4800mah

Gotta make that 7 years of updates work out somewhere right? IMO this 10% of updates each gen is frankly disrespectful to the intelligence of us fans. The wired charging speed is absolutely the biggest smack of them all. This is why I will be sticking with ONe plus.

Even with the improved specs, the Honor Magic V2 is a much better foldable phone. The front display screen is wider than the Samsung, making it look and feel better. The hinge mechanism on the Honor is incredibly well engineered, much smoother and much more robust on the Honor than the Samsung and overall, the Honor is a much better looking phone. Not to mention the software side, the Honor transition from front screen to internal screen is much more reactive and the 8" internal screen on the Honor is bigger than the Samsung foldable too. All in all the Honor Magic is a much better offer, in price, in capabilities and functionality.

Well, foldables were always behind in specs, since they put design first, still, some could improve battery capacity and camera sensor sizes and resolution to get them closer at least.
I see samsung's folds going nowhere, maybe if their rollable can get S25Ultra hardware, it could make people move away from classic design.
With specs like those, such awesome futuristic tech is just something for kids to play with... and maybe to earn some extra cash lol, selling mid range hw for premium...

Bruh what is Samsung smoking. They’re getting way too comfortable with how they’re handling the foldable business.
