Framedrops and lack of modern codec hardware support I can understand as a resistance to moving to 4k.

But there is absolutely raw cpu grunt left over to allow 2k.

I'd rather buy a phone with a Dimensity 7020 SoC from last May, 2023 than get a phone
with SD 6s Gen3 which is really a re-hash of the 695 from 2021. Wouldn't All of you agree it would make sense - yes?

Real snapdragon 6(7s now) is competitor to 7000 series and 7 series to 8000 series and in latter dimensity has much more powerful cpu, which forced qualcomm to release 7+ series and 8s series SoCs

Even 690 had 4K video recording support. So basically 695 is actually 688 5G & 6s Gen 3 is 688+ 5G. It should power $120-150 devices. No new innovation means no one interested. Sorry Qualcomm...

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2024Very well said. Example: Motorola Edge 50 "Pro".Because moto cost a lot doesn't mean soc cost like that, there are plenty of phones anounced with 8s gen 3 around $300 price point, Poco F6/Turbo 3, Realme GT 6 neo, Iqoo Z9 turbo etc.

Not everyone buy $200+ phones some people can't even afford $100 phones that's why soc like this exist. We saw 4 gen 2 appear in phones as cheap as $110 and the like of sd 695 and 4 gen 1 many phones are available in $150-200 market.

Supply chain disruption in early 2020s put a wrench onto phone development, especially in midrange and it's only in last year we are seeing recovery starting from upper midrange.
