Motorola Moto E14 arrives quietly: a £70 Android Go phone with some improvements

17 June 2024
Compared to the E13 from last year, the E14 has faster storage, some display improvements and faster charging (well, kind of).

Android Go should support 4 GB max now. Also, the lower GB should be inserted into a lighter distro

MarOMG, 17 Jun 2024There is such a phone. And it's Motorola G14. Tiger T6... moreSure. That lack of 90Hz is a complete dealbreaker though. Still, I didn't realise that they were priced this close.

As for the Moto G04, you're right, it *IS* the exact same phone but with more RAM. The 5MP selfie camera is still a joke though.

Tiger T616 (10% more on AnTuTu), full HD (but 60 Hz), stereo speakers, full Android (but 13), 4/128 GB, 50 MP main and 8 MP selfie cam, stereo speakers and fingerprint scanner. Only 10-20 euro more expensive.
Or Moto G04. Basicly the same phone but with double the RAM, a tiny bit better main cam, with NFC, fingerprint scanner and full Android 14. Everything else is identical. The same price as G14.

2GB RAM is unusable. Even for the most frugal of end users this device would mean nothing but trouble.

Small RAM is ruining what would be otherwise decent entry level phone(UFS storage non-all-small-core cpu).

Kinda meh of a phone... BUT huge kudos for putting UFS storage in a phone this cheap, I respect the hell out of that

Dolby Atmos is useless in a phone so basic with a single speaker. They should give at least 4GB RAM for this thing instead of Dolby. Other than that, it's a pretty decent package for a basic phone under that price.

Give it 4GB of RAM and an 8MP selfie camera, and I have no problems with this. Still better than most of the other stuff in this price category, especially since it's got UFS 2.2. As much as I hate chargers not being bundled in phones, if it's a 10W charger for a phone that can do 15W, then either change the charger for a 15W one, or don't have a charger bundled at all.

RAM is dirt cheap in phones, no clue why they don't give this more. 4 GB would still not be a lot, but better than 2 GB, especially since the slow storage will make zRAM kinda useless. Also, this should be a compact phone. Battery life would still be great but it makes the display sharper and the phone lighter

At least add extra gig of ram for god sake

Were they drunk when they made this? Are they on drugs thinking people will buy it in 2024? Just what ARE they thinking? Or are they?
