All those Artificial Intelligence stuff are lame ducks, which do not provide any productivity improvements on IPhones as daily driver. Instead it would be a real big step, when IPhones would show a decent desktop on a connected external 16:9 monitor or at least show iOS screens and Apps with a full cast on the external monitor (....and not that letter-boxed / pillar-boxed crap of todays IPhones). Intelligent would be a split-screen feature, where a user can have 2 apps shown on the bigger screen of an IPhone 16 Pro Max (and can interact with both apps - e.g. drag & drop). Why not a Pen support on a 6,9 inch screen of an IPhone 16 Pro Max? And why not rotating the home screen and all other iOS screens depending on the information from the orientation sensors. That would be fu**ing intelligent in Apple's world. Although on Android smartphones that are very old things, which are simply available there since years. So where shall be the intelligence of Apples product managers?? If they are narrow-minded and stubborn, then Apple's IPhones can never be intelligent! Apple AI in its currently upcoming shape is more or less pure nonsense.

For example, Samsung Note 20 still works very fast and well and it's 4 years old. Of course, if you buy cheap phones, that are already weak since they're brand new, they will never run well after years.

I don't understand how far the European Union Commission intends to go. I eagerly await the day when Apple decides to withdraw from all the countries of the European Union and stops selling anything in Europe, a land that has become a jungle of bureaucratic hurdles and senseless obligations. I think that's what Apple and other companies should do.

God bless EU, hope AI will be gone forever from those poor smartphones in Europe, maybe other companies decide to do the same and all together remove AI possessions of our precious phones 😄

Anonymous, 30 Jun 2024Don't forget about support and updates. That's wh... moreBro i swap my phone every 2 years. For me said updates does nto matter.
For what good is a 7 or 10 years old phone if even with brand new software will be struggling to run even instagram, facebook or tik tok by huge delay loading such app because of outdated hardware. No thanks.
Older the phoe more useless it is.
While every 2 year if you buy new device you cans till sell your old one with decent value compared to a fact where your 7-10 years old device is good for trash bin with value not more than 5 bucks.
I buy my phones on a contract from my network carrier with a decent discounts.
For example i have now Motorola edge 40 pro since 2023 july and i am paying 16 euros a month for next 2 years rest been covered by my monthly plan. So in 2025 july it will be paid and i will buy new phone and sell my old one still supported and with decent value.
This way is a lot better and cheaper than spending 800 eur instantly on a same device.

Apple does not resume to themselves, their footprint is way bigger then themselves and because of them a lot of small companies do not exist anymore, also because of them their is little to no innovation in any department, because if apple gets away with making money while doing the bare minimum and stealing r&d from others, why would others even bother? Because of them,e-waste was born, with glueshut everything, repair nothing. And a lot of other mistreat they did and do adds to this, from child labor in china, to forcing european brands to outsource to china because well, there would be no competition if not. So yeah, everyone is tired of apple, of course not it's ignorant fanbase, for them all you need to do is not buy apple products... as if...

It was a meani... more"Releasing Apple intelligence right now in the EU would very likely seen Apple of the receiving end of yet another threat of a fine." If their AI features were just DMA compliant to begin with, then they wouldn't be fined, it's that simple. They held off because they know it's anticompetitive. And if they truly wanted to follow the rules, they would've collaborated and resolved the issue with EC first instead of being so quick to put out a statement making excuses and putting the blame on others. Meaningless analogy? You are clearly proving that analogy.

Why have you had enough of Apple? Someone been forcing you to use their stuff have they, if so who, and by what method of coercion have they achieved this? If you don’t like what Apple does, don’t be an Apple customer, it’s really that simple.

Anonymous, 29 Jun 2024Reducing the movie to an "Emma Stone period drama"... moreWhat, you want a plot synopsis or something? It was a meaningless analogy to begin with. And he’s not ‘my expert’, I just happen to agree with his interpretation of these events. Releasing Apple intelligence right now in the EU would very likely seen Apple of the receiving end of yet another threat of a fine. So them holding back and a waiting for a clearer idea of compliance whilst the EU drops yet more regulation is simply common sense.

Anonymous, 29 Jun 2024So just because they're not addressing a certain issue... moreThe EU has the capacity to address both the issues. Instead of addressing the 'big issue ' I mentioned (I dare not type it again for I might get censored) , in which they will have to accept that they messed up big time, they are getting involved in relatively less important, soft issues like this. That's what I wanted.to convey.

I'm sure that 100% of the tax payers would want them to act on the 'boat tourist' issue first than this Apple AI nonsense which in comparison is almost a non-issue!!
