Google Pixel 9 to have an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor

04 July 2024
It will be the same unit that's used by Samsung in its Galaxy S24 family.

Most likely all issues will be ironed out by that time. Similarly if one is buying Samsung then one should buy once price drop which is around 3-6 months from the date of release.

CamoGeko-XDA, 05 Jul 2024Bad news, I have an S24+ and the scanner is really annoying... moreFull of bollocks lmao. S24+ owner here. The US sensor works great on mine. Even with Torras's screen protector, it worked like there was no screen protector covering the sensor. If you're using cheap ones then yes, it will completely shit the bed.

Liked the pixel 5 one... worked 100% everytime also swipe down for notifications.

igguk1, 05 Jul 2024Battery life is surprisingly good in my 8aI also think the battery life in my 8 Pro is pretty good. Most days I am left with about 40% at the end of the day. It's WAY better than the Pixel 6a which had terrible battery life

another too exciting. same battery size, no sd card. no lossless audio.

Hmm, 05 Jul 2024Finally, maybe Pixel won't be 1-2 generations in specs... moreBattery life is surprisingly good in my 8a

Ok, but why not spend that time and energy to finally release a stable OS and not be stuck in the yearly beta cycle. This is why many IT folks buy year old phones.. the most stable version seamsto be the previous year's version. It's a finger print censor, the concept has been around for decades.

I understand it's about having announcements out there to stimulate existing share holders, investors and get more, but why not rely on consistency and reliability to keep share holders and investors happy. Forget band wagon business models unless you're ready for long-term pain.

Google Pixel line is like abandoned product from the beginning. Google is not very confident to service and support like other major OEMs like Apple, Samsung, One Plus, Motorola etc…..I bought its first Pixel and after their terrific service which was handled by third parties, I just never looked back.

I thought I would never see this post!!! The only thing missing is the internal memory issue, which I hope this time will be ufs:4.0

Finally, maybe Pixel won't be 1-2 generations in specs behind other flagships. But they really need to improve battery life a lot.

still can't beat the regular physical fingerprint sensor

Finally won't get blinded by the obnoxiously bright flash of light in anything lower than average lighting conditions

The one on the S24 isn't that great. It's just on par with an optical one but without the light flash.
It would've been better if they had used the one Vivo used on the X80 Pro which is several times bigger than traditional UD fingerprint sensors.
Right now the most annoying thing with UD sensors is that you don't know where they're precisely located so it leads to frequent mispresses.

To this day no misses on my Poco F1, would have thought the new tech is better but what do I know, I still use ancient tech like 3.5 jack, sd card, FM radio, LED light....
                                    If it aint broke...

Why can't they just use one on the back or the side like all the best phones? Pixel 5 had it on the back and it was great, the Sony Xperia 1 IV had one on the side and it worked great.

I hate these in screen ones as they are never as good, especially with a screen protector.
