      Anonymous, 19 Jul 2024Doesn't Apple actually use the best sensor on the mark... moreOf course not😂, the best sensors in the market are:
      1-Best Main is Lyt-900 50MP 1" sensor in Find X7 Ultra / Xiaomi 14 Ultra / X100 Ultra
      2-best UW is IMX890 50MP 1/1.56 sensor in find X6 Pro
      3-Best Zoom is HP9 200MP 1/1.4 sensor in X100 Ultra
      4- Best selfie I guess it will be IMX858 in Pixel 9 Pro cuz I don't think there will be a better selfie sensor

I have tried all the possible stock camera app settings combinations and also Samsung's expert raw app, everywhere the colors are oversaturated.
          With javasabr gcam mod the colors are true to life on all of s24u cameras and there are more details. Give it a try, you'll be surprised by the results.
          I've been using only gcam for the past 3 months for taking photos and stock camera for videos.

            Mr. Anonymous, 19 Jul 2024Colors are fine when using gcam mod instead of stock camera... moreMy S23 Ultra has fine colours on Ultrawide and Teles. Not on main camera.

            Main camera is Samsung sensor. Rest of them are Sony.

            Why would Samsung be using Sony sensors if they believed their own sensors to be better and/or cheaper?

            I admit 2x zoom from the Samsung 200MP sensor has a lot of details, more details than the 3x zoom camera (with only 10MP sensor though).

            But if I could choose, I would pick accurate colours over more details. My Sony mirrorless cameras all have perfect colour reproduction. Compared to Canon and Nikon cameras I've owned. Some Nikons come close and naturally they are using Sony sensors too. Canon CMOS sensors have as weird colours as Samsung sensors. Looks like a joke to my eye. I love my Canon EOS M6 camera, it's a beautifully crafted camera. But its miles away from Sony natural colours and general rendition.

            The best smartphone camera today: Oppo Find X7 Ultra (sadly not available here in Europe)... 100% Sony sensors and just look at the samples from that phone. Wow! Better than Xperia phones because of superior processing by Oppo. Xperia 1 VI has quite a blurry telezoom camera unfortunately... Hopefully they will ditch zoom and employ 2 separate tele lenses instead (let's say 3x and 6x like Oppo did in they X7 ultra)... My 10x zoom cam in S23 Ultra is cool but not very useful.

              Vivo has a 200 megapixel 85mm camera, though it's a Tetra²pixel sensor with Quad Pixel autofocus. I think it's just a matter of time when 64 megapixel will replace 50 megapixel.
              I am against reducing the ratio focal length/pixel size. The Pixel 7 Pro had 19mm/0.7micrometer and that's still not good enough in order to compete with a travel zoom camera like the Panasonic Zs60. I want to see more phones that offer a ratio like the Vivo X100 Ultra: 22.48mm/0.56micrometer

                Exactly. You know nothing.
                It is Tensor for life!

                    What on earth is Google thinking, downgrading its camera setup for its flagship phone? If it's anything to do with the "must be thinner and lighter" shtick, I wish them all to find tiny stones in their shoes every day, and hobble around like the pathetic creatures they are! Doubtless they'll limit storage to 512GB as well, which makes no sense. Why must they lag behind the other major phone manufacturers who try to make the best devices they can?
                    If I'm committing to a potentially €2k phone, it should have the best specs it can reasonably fit inside the chassis. With Pixel's typically poor battery performance, why should anyone pick the P9ProFold over the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 & 4, the Honor Magic V3, the vivo X fold3 Pro, the latest Samsung foldable, or even the Oneplus Open?
                    I feel like with Pixel, I'm always paying a premium for last year's hardware, bad battery, and a 'play it safe' design and specifications.
                    Give me 1TB storage, excellent cameras, and a physical slider button like OnePlus, and I'll be much more willing to pay €2k.

                      9 Fold getting worse sensors than original, duck google

                        To be honest, nothing impressive. Hardware in Google style - nothing amazing at all.

                          Anonymous, 20 Jul 2024Some people may prefer a portrait camera, some people may p... moreI agree with you, but my point was that there wouldn't have been any meaningful loss in quality at higher zoom levels but considerable improvement in quality at lower zoom levels.

                          Illustratively, let's say someone wants to take a picture of a bird at 8x zoom (200mm equivalent). The effective sensor area and megapixel count that will be employed to take the shot in the two scenarios would be:

                          120mm (5x) 48MP 0.7um -> 3.36mm x 2.52mm 17.28MP
                          100mm (4x) 48MP 0.8um -> 3.2mmx 2.4mm 12MP

                          In the present implementation i.e. Pixel 8 pro:
                          113mm (4x) 48MP 0.7um -> 3.16mmx 2.37mm 15.3MP

                          So compared to Pixel 8 Pro telephoto, a 4x 1/2" telephoto lens would have slightly larger effective sensor areas at all zoom levels (albeit with a smaller megapixel count). The loss in image quality at higher zoom levels, if any, would be imperceptible.

                          Though I also like your latter suggestion, i.e. something like a 64MP 0.7um 1/2" sensor with 4x zoom, which would sort of combine the advantages of both the approaches. But it seems like the move is towards 'standardising' the MP count to 48/50 MP, which makes a 64MP sensor unlikely.

                            Pix, 19 Jul 2024switching between lenses will be seamless" Omg really?... moreI honestly cannot tell whether that is sarcasm. I was just guessing. It may not be as smooth as you'd hope, but I think it's reasonable to assume that transitioning between the two should be smoother with two identical sensors than with two different ones.

                              RaviSS, 19 Jul 2024If the focal length and aperture could be pushed in the 20m... moreSome people may prefer a portrait camera, some people may prefer a camera that takes better photos of birds. I don't think that they should decrease the image quality of distant objects like birds, they should increase
                              it! They could add a fourth camera for portraits. Another solution could be a wider field of view, but with more megapixels (but not Tetra²pixel array, which should be worse than Quad Bayer).
