I don't like the design of the camera island, but I don't think it will stand out as much when the phone is in a case.
If Tensor performance isn't hot garbage I might look into trying one of these out. I had good experiences with my Pixel 6 Pro. I have a S23U right now but I don't really like what Samsung has been putting out recently

Anonymous, 19 Jul 2024The specifications of the periscope lens are still not know... moreIf the focal length and aperture could be pushed in the 20mm/7mm ballpark, I would like to see a 1/2" 48/50MP sensor (0.8um pixel pitch) with 4x zoom (something like what we had in Pixel 6 Pro, but with larger aperture). With the fusion algorithm, the details at zoom levels 2-4x would be much better, 4x would obviously be better, and even the loss details for 5x and above zoom levels would be minimal.
Not to mention that Potrait shots look considerably better at 100mm focal length as compared to 120mm (subjective opinion).

Yes. Last year this source 'guessed' 1/1.12" GN2 sensor for main camera, which had got me eagerly anticipating the 8 series, which turned into a bit of disappointment when it turned out to be a 1/1.31" sensor (likely GNK).
At that time, he/she also 'guessed' IMX787 64MP as the ultrawide camera, but it turned out to be a 48MP camera. The name of the sensor hasn't been corrected yet in the given table, but I am skeptical whether IMX787 was used.
The predicted ultrawide sensor for Pixel 9 pro would be a downgrade coming from Pixel 8 pro, so it against look like this source is 'guessing'.

Darth Caesium, 19 Jul 2024They did analog binning to achieve a 1/2.0"-type 48MP ... moreDo we have any source to verify this? Or could it be possible that the name of the sensor itself i.e. IMX787 is incorrect? I haven't seen any official/verified information anywhere that the sensor that is being used is indeed IMX787.

I do love the consistency between the cameras on the Pro/XL. Switching between tele and main will be seamless. And it's same sensor for the front too, with AF! Sounds very promising.

For a 1/3 sensor Sony might be charging too much, which translates to higher prices. Monopoly is not good. Let startups come and gain market. I use camon 30 premier which has 1/2.8 PDAF from Hynix I guess. Which is better than most of the selfie camera out there including flagships. This is possible because of small companies are there. (1/2.8 sony sensor will be too costly for techno)

It would be great if they switched to SD, had better battery life, and offered their phones in more than 10 countries. But hey, what do I know?
