21 July 2024
Nokia N9 fans took notice, the hot pink colorway drew even more attention. And it's easy to repair too? Unfortunately, there is a catch.

I'm really a Tech Expert as I review many devices. Reviewing is one thing, telling missed things and what is expected is other. Don't target people when you don't know about others.

Carol-, 23 Jul 2024Sorry, that would be to much to explain. You can take some ... moreNokia 2 cant update to android 9 coz this device use regular android (not go) and with only 1gb ram option and low chipset not meet with android 9 requirements. Its like my statement, 4-5 update for flagship is reasonable but for midrange is outdated coz future android update maybe need more capable spec like nokia 2 case, can update to android 8 but cant update to android 9.

I don't mind having two OS update, but the price needs some rethink. If this phone has at least Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, then it could be worth the price.

if the price drops to 250-350 ill think about it.

HatingEqually, 22 Jul 2024Even my A03 from 2021 still receiving security patches. I d... moreLol, A03 was released in january 2022, with a price arround 160€, it is 2 and a half years old and it is slowly but shorly approching the end of it's updates life, while A05 was released in 2023, it is not even an year old and was almost 200€ at launch. Just because samsung devices devalue in a short period of time, it does not mean that to present them as 99 euros devices is a valid thing. So the only ones here that are yapping are you and your smily friend. 😉

As for the drvices you mentioned, i do not have experience with these devices, also i don't know them and am tonlazy to research. But i coul say some possible reasons like: not worth the money, or no driver support for the used SoC from the SoC manufacturer (don't get me wrong hmd could still make drivers for the SoC themselves but it would be a hassle and not worthy for the type of the device). Also could be that the device was out of supported time-line or that there was a hardware incompatibility issue with the new OS, that could probably be fixed but again, not worth the struggle because the device was too cheap. But i do not know, these are only speculations.

justasmile, 22 Jul 2024Even for wireless charging, is it really worth the price given?Maybe not, but is definetly woth against a wannabe flagship from a chinese Brand...

HatingEqually, 22 Jul 2024Yeah, cpu matters in most part on your phone. High resolut... moreWow, sorry, you really know your stuff...., graphics and graphics randering in most of the OSs on the market are left for the gpu to calculate, now only because the GPU is incorporated in the SoC, does not mean that it is the CPU that calculates the graphics. An SD 7 SoC could probably hold a faster GPU, but well why would it? This Units are more tweeked towards efficency, not raw performance, then throttling because of heat...

High refresh rate again depends on the GPU, but tell me, how much refresh rate your eyes actually can comprehend, and how much is actually wasting battery? Ever tought about that? 144hz is already overkill, yet the gpu inside the SD7 can do it. So, come again?

Confusing again and again a SoC with a CPU. Nope RAM size support is not given by the CPU but by the mainboard (in a smartphone the mainboard is considered as a chipset, afaik), anyway, RAM speeds support are a limitation in a CPU. Even tough any CPU can run RAM with any given speed, depending on the CPU, they will run full speed or will be downclocked to a supported speed.
I'll give you a tomato tough if you can spot a difference between RAM speeds on a Smartphone.

How smooth the device is depends on a hack load of hardware components, from gpu, cpu, RAM mainboard (chipset) bus speed, micro-circuits metals, Storage efficency and speeds, screen quality to software and drivers. CPU is like a 20% of the whole. The whole SoC is about 55 % and the rest is left on software and mainboard plus drivers. Only with a CPU and a lot of garbage arround it you will only be able to brag about the numbers and that's about it. But wait, that sounds about right in this comment section, maybe you guys really have devices with a SoC (to stop the CPU confusion) and nothing else. Would make a lot of sense, a lot of brag but nothing good.

HatingEqually, 22 Jul 2024Well apart from the design (which, tbh, not an useful part ... moreAt this price, there are some phones that might be better at one thing and worse at tge other. Any device at this price has a compromise these days, was not the case 15 years ago, but let's thank that to apple. For you a wannabe flagship at 500 euros is good. Have fun buying them, and keep restarting. So why do you feel the need to tell everyone else that your opinion is the truth? While it ain't a scrap of it?

But wait, now people complain that it is only black and no pink in sight.

You were all about chinese devices like poco that had 0 updates, yet is was justifyable only because they were some wannabe flagship killers while in reality they were garbage from top to buttom, and now sudently you want updates and support? Back then you were all "i custome OS king"....Give us a break please.

There is one thing when google try to harvest your data, and there are a lot of methods to block them, and there is another thing when the manufacturer inserts spyware in a device, that is something that is not really easy to stop, i tried once, and rendered the garbage device unusable, but hey, by your comments you know better😉. Yet i am the "knowitall". Get a gripp!

But as i've already said, the CPU tells less then half of the story, with a garbage OS, like samsungs and pretty much any chinese brand, or with 3rd class batches CPUs, that are prone to have more manufacturing defects then first class or second class ones, batches bought by most chinese Brands if not all, it definetly matters less the a quarter of what "experts" like you cry about in here. Oh, you tought that a device from a chinese brand with flagship cpu costs 500 euros because the chinese just like to give you the best quality for free? Are kind people and want you to be happy, right? And here i am only scratching the surface with why the low prices on some chinese brands devices. So yeah, i claim that a well done midrager with balanced hardware, and not necessery a flagship cpu, can kick a.. against a 500 euro wannabe flagship from china, in stability performance and quality,. Hands down!

I mean, i do not like people bragging but let's put it this way, i work with hardware for more then 20 years now, i did my school in networking /software and hardware, and i still do not consider myself a "tech expert". It takes hack lot more then 10 years to be an expert in anything tech, reviewing devices means 0, even a tech aphone can review devices as long as he can talk. Maybe you'll get close to an expert after like 30 years with intense learning, and not just learning about CPU names in this toys, but actually learning starting with the basics like what binary is and how it works. About all the components that are put together to create a computer and so on. Maybe then you will understannd why a chinese device with a SD8 gen 3 has a high probability to work worse then a pixel, nokia, hmd, fairphone device with SD7, and why a cpu is important but not the only thing important in a decision to buy something, as every "expert here implies". And here i'm just scratching the surface with a plastic pen. But well, everyone here is an "expert" and thinks that only because they know how to pronounce cortex, they are tech experts... so i don't know why i even bother.

If it was about flagships, I would've simply made comparisons to flagships of other brands, not low ends.
