What improvements do you REALLY see in these phones? A new display tech/improvement is a given for each year, ESPECIALLY when the S23 Ultra basically had the SAME display as the S22 Ultra. So yeah you can't count that, they just waited 1 year to bring out proper display upgrades so it seems that they made a huge jump.

Idk what improvements you're talking about but for a price hike I expected a Note 10 to Note20 Ultra kind of a jump, not an S22 Ultra S(2024 edition).

Anonymous, 25 Jul 2024Samsung has become Samesung. Same cameras. Same batteries. ... moreOh wait:

Z Fold 6 = this model has less of a crease matching the Oppo Find N3. Yet ignorance blinds this improvement! Typical of haters!

S24 Ultra = this model has an innovative 75% less reflective screen than the industry. Yet again, this ignorance blinds this improvement! Typical of haters!

Z Flip 6 & Fold 6 = these both have an industry first and leading IP48 for dust and water resistance. It's a significant and innovative improvement as it's a tangible gain allowing users to be less sensitive and less in babying their high end smartphone or less restrictive of where they take them. Once again as before, this ignorance blinds this improvement! Typical of haters!

Too many here act like their in kindergarten, feeling that agreeing or acknowledging improvements weakens themselves or the points they make lol

Yes I love Samsung products. Yeah I'm a fan, not a fan boy. I want faster charging (80W wired minimal and 45W wireless across the full range)! Yes I want larger batteries BUT NOT to increase size and noticeable weight just to simply play the keeping up game.

And yes I want their Z Flip 6 product managers head for THINKING not including Samsung Dex is not what that target market needs. Actually I want to run 40m at my fastest and kick em in thr dad's as hard as I can for even stating that and believing that decision! Lol.

I'm a fan. Not a blind fan boy

Saying Samsung is not improving anything yet you know there are areas they do is contradictory.

Don't be like that other guy, please.

The points about more efficient SoC and chipset is ONLY valid today because the SoC's has significantly become much much more powerful than ever before .. to the point threatening mobile X86 chips.

Very reminisce of how Apple and Samsung killed HTC, SONY, Nokia, LG, Blackberry, Sharp more than a decade ago. Some brand just stopped competiting.

BTW, the actual reason for not upgrading S25 Ultra much is to drive sales to Fold6. Fold6 is slightly more costly to manufacture but can be sold for 55% more

You call people who disagree with you "braindead". What's that then? My goodness the irony. You can't handle it when you yourself are called out on a valid point (your fanboyism) yet you call others braindead. Like zoinks man that's so hypocritical.

Anyways. A small increase or decrease doesn't do anything? What are you on about? Have you seen the gains that more battery brings? Take the Apple Pro Max phones and their Pro counterparts, the S10 and the S10+ and dozens of more stuff, even though the screen sizes increase, the battery increase is quite a lot higher than one would've expected. The S10 was damn near unusable after 4 months and the S10+ is still going strong (source : my relatives' phones).

Take Oneplus for example, their Oneplus 11 had good battery life and the Oneplus 12 now has exceptional battery life. Better tuning can take you so far, more efficient chipset can take you a little farther but larger batteries will nearly always be able to outpace those 2 things if it's large enough.

"battery size is the one thing that has always been questionable". No. I remember when the Note5 and the S5 were considered all day phones, their batteries were praised. What if people said back then that battery size is questionable and shouldn't be increased? What if we held on to those ideas?

You're defending Samsung's reluctance to change, even if it's super cheap compared to other things. Larger batteries aren't easy to market so yeah I get why they don't do it as they'd need to change the design and have copy and paste most parts a little less to accommodate the larger battery but regardless, that's not my concern when the phone prices have been increasing. Samsung took the prices up to 1400 dollars now whilst giving us nearly nothing new. People accepted the price hikes NVIDIA brought to the 10 series because even though the price increased by like 10%, the performance increase was double that of the last gen. If Samsung gave us the X100 Ultra level of cameras, a 5500 mah+ battery then yeah, I'd have paid even 1500 bucks for that phone. Their cameras are instead compared to the Oneplus 12 lmao

And add to that the fact that Samsung has no fast charging to fall back to. So yeah, they NEED better batteries. Yes, other manufacturers "only" match Samsung's batteries, but they can charge like twice to 100% by the time Samsung does so. You conveniently missed that point. Additionally, a larger battery means more battery that'll be left after it's degraded. In a lot of places battery replacements are too expensive, a new phone is a more intelligent purchase. So let's say the Oneplus 12's battery is degraded to 70% health and the Samsung S24 Ultra's battery has as well, both are supposedly giving the same backup right? Well the Oneplus has faster charging which allows you to quickly get back enough power to get you throughout the day.

So yeah, Samsung has only now matched Apple after trailing for what seems like half a decade now or something. No doubt Apple will fight back harder. And only then will Samsung do something, I'll be waiting to see what you say then. Will Samsung have reached "peak" then or will they still be "brain dead"? The S10+ was considered a monstrous phone for battery and the base S24 dwarfs that in backup due to more efficient chips, software and displays.

Samsung not improving anything is a key indicator of stagnation, something Samsung themselves have started to fight against in the display market. They launched the Quantam Dot TVs/panels so that LCDs can be better and they started making QD-OLEDs. LCDs weren't that great and Quantam Dot enhanced displays now cover a nice amount of the Rec.2020 color space. LG was stagnating HARD with their WOLEDs then Samsung came and within the next generation they revolutionized it with MLA technology that brought about insane brightness, albeit not having the color purity of Samsung's QD-OLED, but still, OLED on TVs has improved more in the past 2 years than in the past 5-7 years. And the monitor market is facing a complete shift, we're getting prices that are now nearly half of what they were going for, due to OLED coming to the scene and MiniLED/Quantam Dot enhanced LCDs coming to the scene. DON'T support stagnation, otherwise we're gonna get an NVIDIA type future (if we don't have already). The base S phone might be priced 1400 dollars and the S24 Ultra might be 1800 dollars. But I guess that's what you want.

And it seems that either this tech is in its early stages OR there's some variations between the tech being provided. For example, Vivo's battery life is kind of poor for its size, take the X Fold3 Pro and the X100 Ultra, whereas the Magic6 Pro is a battery champ. I believe the next 2 generations will sort it all out. The first or second gens usually aren't the best. Take Samsung's Note, the Z Fold series, etc.

Many Chinese manufacturers are using silicon cathode batteries to increase battery capacity.

But scientifically, silicon cathode batteries are more prone to swelling and lack safety compared to traditional carbon cathodes.

If silicon cathode batteries remain safe in two to three years, then everyone will want to use that technology.
