Others saw that the battery capacity would not change and started acting like that out of all things is a sign of Samsung not changing anything, meanwhile the article mentions that a big redesign is rumored to be coming..

My comment was about those complaining about Samsung "not changing anything" when battery size is the one thing that has always been questionable. A small increase or decrease often doesn't do anything. As someone else mentioned battery tech itself can change things but none of those I called out mentioned that.

alski10, 25 Jul 2024That may be because your knowledge on the subject is very l... moreThey don't change much because it isn't neccessary. Bigger batteries add weight. As long as battery life is good, why change it? That's why I am saying, some people here are special, in that they act like a bigger battery is desirably or needed, which both are not true. Those phones that offer bigger batteries tend to still only match the current S Ultra model, if not even that. There is zero reason to change anything there, we have a ton of other things that should get upgrades: The display should get 10-bit support, Bluetooth the AptX-Codecs, the camera sensor size should be upgraded, just to name a few, all being vastly more important things that should receive upgrades.

xPandamon, 25 Jul 2024I have to say: This comment section may be a bit mentally c... moreIt's not just the battery size. It's battery technology.
They've been using Li-ion for centuries.
An antiquated battery tech that causes overheating and swelling over time.
Silicon carbon battery not only doesn't do that, it's also less influenced by extreme exterior temperatures (S24 Ultra ran out of juice while Magic 6 Pro managed to retain 33% of battery under -22 ˙C, source: Android Central).
Get on with the times, Samsung has been sleeping on its laurels for a decade.

xPandamon, 25 Jul 2024I have to say: This comment section may be a bit mentally c... moreexactly! Samsung should reduce battery sizes and only let the efficiency of the chips carry them forward! We only need the 3000 mah battery of the S7. Nothing more is needed. If anyone needs even 1 more mah then they're braindead and need to touch grass! Like what are you doing so much on your phone? Seriously??? Why use your phone so much?
Yk what would be even better? If we only paid Samsung 1400 dollars for nothing! Because phones are the big bad and Samsung is so nice that we should pay them for just existing!

xPandamon, 25 Jul 2024I have to say: This comment section may be a bit mentally c... moreThat may be because your knowledge on the subject is very limited? Samsung has been using 5000mAh batteries since the S20 Ultra while every other manufacturer has increased battery capacities (even freaking Apple). This is just one of the many examples that point towards Samsung trying less and less to make significant changes on their high end phones

I have to say: This comment section may be a bit mentally challenged. We are talking about battery sizes here, yet there are many people acting like Samsung does not implement anything new just because of that. How mad do you have to be to spell doom because of BATTERY SIZES!? You guys need to get hobbies, asap

Battery life in recent years has steadily improved, without shoving bigger and bigger batteries inside. This isn't disappointing, it gives me hope that this trend continues.

"In 2023, Samsung SDI completed the world's biggest pilot production line for solid-state batteries, 'S-Line,' and plans to begin the world's first-ever all solid-state battery mass-production in 2027."
That's what it says on Samsung SDI's website. They're going all in on solid state batteries. They have no intention of getting involved in sodium-ion batteries. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It seems like over the last few years Qualcomm has been rapidly increasing their margins and that Samsung has been trying to keep theirs by reusing the same components over and over again

It seems very unlikely that Samsung would magically pull off a significant power draw reduction. Even more so when you consider that they still haven’t been able make OneUI as smooth as stock Android after all these years
