how expensive are these materials that motorola is using? is there any gold/gems somewhere to justify the 2ooo $? and what's with the round screen? how will a movie or a picture show up on that screen? and for faster use, a slider is way faster... you have good acces to keys just by pushing up.
i didn't liked motorola before, and this didn't changed my mind.

Fakuryu, 22 Oct 2008To the bickering moto-haters: Obviously, the target mark... moreThis is exactly what I'm trying to say. Techie geeks mostly live in Asia and Europe where the Nokia, Sony Ericsson brands have taken the territories by storm. Japan already has 5 megapixel flip phones!!!!!

This phone is meant for fashion-conscious people who want style over substance. People nitpicking at its lack of features are obviously techie geeks who always want everything included in their phones, even a port-a-potty and a convection griller if possible.
If you hate it, then you're not in the phone's target market.

To the bickering moto-haters:
Obviously, the target market of this phone is not for us mere mortals. This phone are for people who prefer to make a statement rather than us tech crazy public.

I like how everyone here's playing expert on what Motorola should and shouldn't do. Listen, Einsteins, this phone is not meant for you. Hell, you wouldn't see one in real life in all probability. This is meant for corporate bigwigs who dont want to use the "plastic piece of sh1t" that the guy in the cubicle got with his two year plan. This is style over substance. Nothing else matters, and rightfully so.
Take your bickering elsewhere.

If Motorola wishes to survive as a major manufacturer it should focus on delivering world class handsets with the very latest technologies rather than providing a expensive device such as this which will not probably not sell well. I do not agree either that high build quality cannot be found without paying a ridiculous premuim. There are devices that cost signicantly less than this (Nokia E Series is a classic example) and which incorporate the very latest technolgy and are built superbly.
It is my view that Motorola could regain strength in the market by becoming very much focused on Android which would differentiate it from other players. This is due to the fact that present it is facing great difficulty in successfully providing credible alernatives in the smartphone arena (compared with Nokia and HTC for instance) or the java based feature phone arena (compared with Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia). Android would provide a new opportunity for the company, instead of designing and producing ridiculously expensive handsets with questionable ergonomics and design such as this one.
