CargoJoe, 31 Jul 2024What else can a 4600mAh do? Not great. Not terrible either. Motorola with 4600 would surely score way more than Google and xiaomi can with 5000-5200

I'm somebody to relies very much on some app notifications and even Samsung flagship annoys me with its missed notifications at times. My old Nokia experience has been spot-on in terms of that, but I've also seen Nokia phones that were very killing almost all apps all the time. If Skyline doesn't do it, it's a positive. But they should just let people adjust what kind of aggression or leniency one requires around the killing of background running tasks.

I think any smartphone that is getting more for the same sized battery with similar chipset and screen size is quite likely doing an aggressive control at background tasks.

I'm a huge fan of that Nokia N9/N8 design, but sadly that's the only positive aspect about the hmd skyline. Too heavy, poor battery performance, short software support and judging by first camera reviews it also has "poor" camera performance especially videos don't Look like taken by a 500€ smartphone.

Google beating another phone at battery life is NOT good for HMD

Is anyone surprised at this point? It has been known for a while they dont optimize anything

CargoJoe, 31 Jul 2024What else can a 4600mAh do? Not great. Not terrible either. It can do better but it seems either HMD didn't optimise the device or that Snapdragon is too power hungry.

Both S23 (Snapdragon) and S24 (Exynos) have better battery life with more powerful chips and smaller batteries, resolution is a tad lower but that is too small of a difference to matter.

That is why I mentioned thos things about HMD, with 4600mAh it should and can achieve better battery life if they tried.

Very disappointing battery life. But I'm not surprised. The battery is way too small. 5,000mah should be the absolute minimum.
