Don't expect to see it in an actual shipping phone just yet.

Of couse, this is a marketing gimmik, but they are always referring at the speed when the battery is still uncharged AND COLD.

Z4 Tablet (2015) had zero issues with 810.
As former user of this chip, I highly doubt 888, 8g1 and even this 8g4 have any of that heat level. I laugh when remembering people here were crying because their phones were 45-47 Celsius while gaming and that was overheating to them. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

At full power ( no core disable nor reduced frequency) , 810 could make phone reach 60 Celsius just by web browsing.
Mine had at some point 3 A57 put to sleep by software update. It was turned into 1 x A57 + 4 x A53.

If brand A advertised 100W, should have given 100W.
Reality is 100W advertised, peak of 85W that lasts 1-2s seconds, then stay most of time at 65-70W to in the end ( after 80-85%) reduce to 30-35W.

              This shouldn't happen.

Also, more surface area is important but a proper design is more important. For example if the tablet is thin and has a small vapor chamber it'll get some heat dissipation but if it has a larger vapor chamber then the battery/SOC's heat is going to be taken away faster. Thinness just generally results in poorer cooling. Look at any thin phones.

                  That's too slow, I need 3kW and 5s for 0 to 100% !

SShock, 07 Aug 2024I wish all these hyper fast charging modes were optional an... moreI like your comment very much. I agree.
I don't think the battery is, or can be, agnostic to charging speeds. Fast charge comes with more heat, simple physics, and batteries are vulnerable to heat. I, too, see the benefits of fast charging, when needed. Pushing the envelope of technlogy is a good think. But the user should be in control at the end of the day. Limiting the speed AND the percentage should be the good practice and the standard.

I wish all these hyper fast charging modes were optional and phone would always ask you about it when plugged in (with option to have it always on or always off too). This way it would charge at lets say QC3.0 speeds normally, but if you need it, you'd just tap "Super fast charging" and it would charge it in 5 minutes. I can see the convenience of sometimes topping up phone in shortest time possible, but for regular charging, slower speeds are best for battery life.

Frankly, after downgrading from 65w charging to 15w (which is something I was fiercely against at first), I've finally awaken to self realization in how much time I've spent doomscrolling inapplicable information to my daily life. 300w is a good perk, but for 99.90% of average Joes/Janes is useless unless your're a mobile developer.

Mimster, 07 Aug 2024Thank god this is happening. Now I can charge my phone fas... moreI have busy schedules sometimes. Sometimes I forget to charge. A 50% charge is not enough for me to spend the day outside. Don't complain that I have poor habits and stuff now. If I buy a premium product I expect premium stuff like fast charging, there's no problem with including that as long as it isn't too detrimental to the battery.

Also, the Oneplus 12 gives roughly the same battery life as the S24 Ultra (look at the numerous battery tests online), yet it charges in just 24 mins. The S24U takes nearly as long to reach 50%. I agree super duper fast charging isn't necessary but what would people have done if we said the same thing back when 15W was considered fast? Stop demonizing tech, you guys make fun of boomers for hating tech and yet you demonize tech yourself.

You guys demonize fast charging yet stay quiet when updates nuke the battery life. My S22 Ultra is unusable now and I'm 90% sure it's the updates, a relative had to change their iPhone 13 because it was unusable after the iOS 17 update. I hate updates because of this, artificial and planned obsolescence.

Heis, 07 Aug 2024This only makes sense if it's for tablets with 10k mah... morePretty sure tablets that actually need fast charging don't have the necessary cooling to deal with 165W charging let alone 300W. That's because they're super duper thin. Look at how the Macbook Air without any fan performs, compared to a Macbook Pro with a fan.
