iPad Pro is the best selling iPad

Surprisingly, the most expensive of the line is the most sought after.

Anonymous, 08 Aug 2024Ah, but they don't. People go to buy an iPad, then ... moreyou mean storage (ROM) not RAM, more RAM would increase the performance but it will not affect how much photos and videos you can store on the phone. RAM has never been upgradeable with phones, even with Samsung, LG, HTC etc that used to have upgradeable storage with a microSD card

YUKI93, 08 Aug 2024The only iPad variant that's hard to make sense of is ... moreSometimes, the newest iPad Air is cheaper than the iPad Pro, even when it's discontinued. Take iPad Pro M1 vs iPad Air M1 for example. Tell me where you can find iPad Pro M1 going for around the same price? It's only the iPad Pro A12Z that can match the price, but that's the A12Z.

Yuri84, 10 Aug 2024Is it in units or dollars? Because if it's in dollars,... moreUnits. It's a share chart.

Is it in units or dollars? Because if it's in dollars, one iPad Pro is, like, 5 cheaper models. So, unless cheaper models outsell more expensive 5 to 1, pro will be "more popular".
Personally, I've also been interested in the Pro model, but once I've seen the price I immediately changed my mind. Bought Legion Go as my travel companion instead, much better value for money. For me, at least.

People go to buy an iPad, then Apple up-sells them to buy the Pro. More expensive, more profit for Apple.

Same as with the base RAM iPhones: people to see the base price, then realise they need to buy the one with more RAM for photos, videos etc. (there being no SD card slot). It's easy to persuade them to upgrade to the one with more RAM. Unreasonably more expensive for the extra RAM, more profit.

Is this global, US only or what ?

GAMIR3DH, 08 Aug 2024Wait hold on... so for the iPad 120hz is important but not ... more120hz is only important if you have used it. I've owned iPad with 120hz screen since Apple added that feature many many years ago to iPad, can't go back to 60hz. People who haven't used 120hz iPad are just fine without it, same with 60hz phones.

Things get weirder when i used sametime my iPhone with 60hz without any problem. Now i have 120hz iPhone too and again can't go back. This thing messes heads! 60hz looks way worse now than what it was before.

I understand why this refresh rate debate always been hot while some people say it matters a lot and some says they can't see difference. Both are right.

The problem with the Air and Mini is that at least in my country it’s only 100$ to 200$ cheaper than the 11” Pro. Why buy the cheaper one then??!? Apple needs to lower the prices of those two if they want to sell them. It literally makes zero sense to sell almost every iPad for almost the same price except for the standard iPad which is a lot cheaper. Nobody in their right mind would buy a Air/Mini if they can get the Pro for just a little more. Most people want to keep their iPads for years.

Anonymous, 08 Aug 2024Are they not too big to be cheaping out on things? C'm... moreFor that to even begin to make any sense it would have to be proven that Apple have no intention of ever releasing a successor to the current base iPad.

If you have information to that point, feel free to share. Otherwise perhaps we should just wait for a 11th gen iPad in due course eh 🤷‍♂️

Bailey , 08 Aug 2024isn't it funny the only thing that people can offer as... moreI want to add to your opinion, that even if iPads are expensive, they are Apple's product that ages the best lately. Maybe it's due to iPadOS being so dumbed down compared to Android or Windows or even MacOS.

Their only competition are Samsung Galaxy Tab S, but they get slow after a few updates due to OneUI, plus their Dex Mode doesnt feels that "natural" as a proper laptop does. Not everything works on Dex, too. And with them now going Mediatek, might as well save your money and buy an M-powered iPad.

And outside of that, you only have Windows "tablets", some Lenovo tabs here and there, and that's it.

Finally, in the last 5 years, Apple finally learned how to code and now you (more or less) have a proper file system management in iOS/iPadOS. You can even connect those devices to your Windows machine and move stuff around easily.

It seems most people just want to buy a Pro. Instead of having a cheaper iPad apple should just focus on one product and continue selling older pros at lower price for people who want a cheaper Pad. Like a 2020 pro instead of cheap iPad. This is what Steve Jobs used to do.

jiyen235, 08 Aug 2024The iPad Pros and the Galaxy Tabs. Those are the main alte... moreWere it Apple's intention to 'make the base iPad non existent in the public's mind' so as to promote the sale of Pro iPads, then they would have dropped all other versions, i.e. the Mini and the Air and simply had that two model range. As it stands there are multiple models and sku's at various price points in between.

You can make the argument that being a few years old at this point, the iPad 10 is due for a refresh, I could go along with that. However, it has become obvious over recent years that Apple do not renew the entire iPad range all at once, so will have to wait and see how much of an upgrade a potential iPad 11th gen is 🤷‍♂️

If you split iPad Pro 13 from iPad Pro 11 sales... the standard iPad is still the best selling product. But imo, it's just how Apple wants to manipulate customers and send them to the higher tier. Also recycling an old well amortized SoC that drastically increase the revenue:
                                      iPad 2019 > A10 (used for iPhone 7 in 2016!)
                                      iPad 2020 > A12
                                      iPad 2021 > A13
                                      iPad 2022 > A14 (used for iPhone 12 in 2020)
                                      iPad 2023 > no show

isn't it funny the only thing that people can offer as to why the iPad Pro is so popular is to turn around and call everyone dumb who buys one.
if I ever buy another tablet again it will be an iPad Pro. I am currently using the 2019 iPad Pro and it is an excellent device which I have used for music and photography. Yes, I use it for streaming YouTube and I only stream movies when I travel. But some of the software I have on it handles my Hi-Fi setup. In short, its an excellent device that has never let me down that's why and it was worth the £1199 that I paid for it at the time. And actually, its the only Apple product that I truly like.
