Anonymous, 08 Aug 2024Clearly shows people only want one Pro and others a cheaper... more12% is still a somewhat significant percentage. As for the iPad mini, it's clearly not popular, but it's still good for a small percentage of people who want to use small tablets.

For artist buying an iPad, the proMotion display makes a huge difference in the feel of sketching. That's one reason for the sale of pro models.

Anonymous, 08 Aug 2024Clearly shows people only want one Pro and others a cheaper... moreThe only iPad variant that's hard to make sense of is the Air. It's just a recycled older generation iPad with a newer Silicon SoC. Why not just buy a secondhand iPad Pro instead?

Talk about having more money than sense. The iPad Pro (and iPad Air) could be worth buying if it runs on macOS. But having iPad Pro (or Air) with what is essentially a glorified iOS for tablets? You could've bought a secondhand iPad Pro/Air or a new vanilla iPad.

Clearly shows people only want one Pro and others a cheaper model. All other variants are redundant. Instead of selling cheaper iPad, they should sell older Pro model at same price. Just a waste of resources to have 4 variants.

Well, the cheapest iPad sold very well because it's cheap. The most expensive iPad also sold very well, because it's very powerful. I don't think that this is counterintuitive.

Is it really that surprising tho?

make the normal ones so bad no one wants it, then make another product that's slightly more expensive yet makes everyone want it, put a ton of money in marketing and yeah, ofc people would go for the better product because it's a clear upsell. Upsell makes the more expensive product have better sales, what a shock
